i was pregnant and money was tight. so my husband finds smc on the tv with Tom Bosley hosting. thinking this could be the answer to our problems, i call the number and give my info and cc number to get the kit and was told you can cancel anytime if you are not satisfied. the first big fat lie of many.
then they have a "coach" call you, which is just another sales person. after they get your website working, which is just horrible.(the picture quality is the worst i've ever seen on a website and there are just a few items on there for people to buy) they try to sell you a better website for $1000.00 i told the coach i didn't have $1000.00 so he said how about $750.00 i said no then he went to $500.00 then finally $350.00 which was the lowest you can go.
AFTER HE SOLD ME THE WEBSITE THIS "COACH" WOULD NOT RETURN ANY OF MY CALLS and guess what THE WEBSITE THEY SOLD ME WAS THE EXACT ORIGIONAL ONE. NOTHING DIFFERENT AT ALL.
THEN THE CON-ARTISTS CHARGE YOU A WEB HOSTING FEE OF 39.99 A MONTH ON TOP OF THAT. SO I CANCELLED IT, AND THEY HAD PEOPLE CALL MY HOUSE 3-4 TIMES A WEEK HARASSING ME BECAUSE I CANCELLED THE EXPENSIVE WEB SITE. THEY WOULD SAY THINGS LIKE " YOU GAVE UP ALREADY" " I GUESS YOU DON'T WANT TO MAKE ANY MONEY" AFTER THEY ALREADY ROBBED ME OF OVER $400.00.(NOW OVER $500.00)
THEN THEY WOULD NOT REFUND ANY OF MY MONEY. 3 OR 4 MONTHS AFTER I CANCELLED, THEY STARTED BILLING MY CREDIT CARD AGAIN. MY ACCOUNT WITH SMC WAS LOCKED, AND THEY WERE BILLING MY CREDIT CARD. I CALLED MY CREDIT CARD COMPANY -CAPITAL ONE- AND gave them the cancelation verifcation # smc had given me and smc LIED to the credit card company saying it was not a valid number.
NOW CAPITAL ONE WILL NOT REMOVE ANY OF THE CHARGES UNLESS I GET A WRITTEN STATEMENT FROM SMC SAYING I DON'T OWE THEM AND THE ACCOUNT WAS CANCELLED. LIKE THAT IS EVER GOING TO HAPPEN. AND EVEN IF YOU CANCEL AND ACCOUNT WITH CAPITAL ONE, AND IT IS NOT PAID OFF, THEY KEEP LETTING THESE PEOPLE CHARGE YOUR CARD UNTIL IT IS PAID OFF. I REFUSE TO PAY THIS CREDIT CARD.
TO TOP IT OFF AFTER I MOVED, AND THEY WERE NOT GETTING ANYMORE MONEY FROM MY CREDIT CARD, THEY FOUND OUT MY ADDRESS, AND ARE NOW SENDING ME LETTERS SAYING NOT PAYING THEM IS AFFECTING MY CREDIT. THESE PEOPLE ARE NOTHING BUT SCAM ARTISTS. OVER $500.00 I WILL NEVER SEE AGAIN AND THEY STILL CLAIM I OWE THEM MORE.

I work for ServiceMerchandise.com in Boca Raton, FL. We are a retail jewelry site. We are not the company in California that has memberships, that company is Specialty Merchandise.

look at all the pages of complaints on here about smc. so you didn't get ripped off yet, good for you. but i did and so did many others. I knew the time limits and i canceled with in them. no, i didn't pay the whole thing up front . BUT THAT IS FAR FROM THE POINT. THE POINT IS THEY WERE MAKING CHARGES ON MY CREDIT CARD MONTHS AFTER I CANCELLED. AND I DID CANCEL CORRECTLY, I EVEN CALLED THEM AFTER TO MAKE SURE. and 3 months later BAM $40 a month web hosting fee for a website i didn't even have. $30 a month for a membership fee and they had my info blocked so i couldn't even log in the on main website like a member can. AND $350 FOR A BOGUS WEBSITE. AND YOU DEFEND THESE CROOKS TO ME? SHAME ON YOU. AND READING ALL THESE PAGES OF COMPLAINTS OF PEOPLE LIKE ME YOU STILL GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY!!! THAT IS DUMB. REAL DUMB.

I'm betting you opted to paying your membership fee monthly rather than at once. If you pay it all at once, you can get a refund within 30 days. I paid my entire membership fee at the start just for this reason. If you pay monthly, you can also cancel in 30 days and get back what you've paid that month. It clearly states that in the terms of service on the website AND in the kit you got. The website states:
"Cancellation. If you cancel your membership within 30 days of joining SMC, you may be eligible for a refund of your membership fees (excluding shipping and handling).Call toll free 1-877-523-9088 for eligibility and cancellation instructions. If you cancel after 30 days, you will remain responsible for any remaining fees until paid in full."
You obviously, took longer than 30 days which made you liable for the remainder of the membership fee. I know nothing about the web hosting because I am not online enough. This is just to make a little extra cash to put away for my son when his dad doesn't pay his support. I have never had a problem with them. Whenever my coach calls, I advise her I don't need any coaching or help at this time and she leaves me alone. The only time I ever called her for an appointment was when I wanted to use the $100 cupon for merchandise and I still didn't let her talk me into anything. You need to get yourself a stronger will and stop letting people push you around. YOU chose to get into this company.
