I called smc yesterday,7/01/05 to get more information on there sign up options. I spoke to a representitive that gave his name to me as Pete Cologne (last name may be incorrect). We discussed the Gold package and its perks and also was trying to get information from him on the silver package which was the monthly payment plan. I understood and at the time we were speaking that the gold fo 317.00 including shipping and was cheaper in the long run but kept telling him that even though it ends up being a little cheaper and I get a value of $300.oo in product that isnt available with the silver I may go with the silver.

Our conversation at times it felt like I wasnt being heard. From the get go I told him I am on social security dissability and my only income from that is 640.00 a month,I just lost 400.00 a month income bringing me to the situation this month of having a rent due by july 5th of 820.00 that I cant pay as of now..and was inquiring on there payment options. I had during the course of our conversation said yes I understand the gold plan is better economically, but..ect during our conversation while I was talking he would say something then get bits and pieces of my credit card info by interjecting questions, then said hold just a second, Im listening you are going to hear a searing of Beeps, or I think he may have said clicks.

I heard the sounds and he came back to our conversation..at this point I hadnt made a decision he tried to confirm that i was agreeing to the gold plan at 317.00 and i told him I have maby 350.00 in my checking acount and still need to have 820.00 to come up with before the 5th of july and dont have anything else as income until next month, that amount is what I have left from this month after having to pay other living expenses. He said here I have an approval code for you and 317.00 will be coming out of your account probably on Tues,July 5th.

I freaked and said NO! I didnt tell you I decided on that...I dont think that is a good decision for me to make and I have decided to go with the silver monthly. He tried to talk me into keeping the 317.00 package. I said look stop for a moment you need to fix this...Put yourself in my position I just got finished telling you I only had 350.00 left of my July dissabiliity check and needed to come up with 820.00 to keep the roof over my head, fix it and reimburse my checking account now. He told me Well that is the better deal... I stated "Do YOU not understand the financial position and my telling you no "I kept trying to tell you not to put me in for that one Yet" finally..he said ok so you want to silver package now not the gold..I agreed.

He stated all i have to do is fill out a paper that will take me less than two minutes..this will come out of your checking acount but then as soon as the 317.00 is deducted you will be immediatly credited the balance of 317.00 less 39.95 for the silver plan.I told him do not hang up I want you to fill it out while im still on the phone. He seemed to have been writing out this form for credit,and saying in the phone the explaination of the credit as he was supposed to be writing it.

I told him I wanted a copy for my records in case I have a problem with the credit. He said as we are doing this I have asked my supervisor and he said that is not possible, this was the second time during our conversation he said "while we have been taking care of this for you I have asked my supervisor and he said that that is not possible" the man never left speaking with me to ask anyone anything. He was on the phone with me the whole time. I requested him to fax or scan and email me the form he filled out for the credit. He refused. I told him I wanted to be also sent a copy of this form stating my refund amount to be given by smc by mail, He told me that it wasnt possible.

I then asked to speak with a supervisor. He (Peter the smc sales rep.) insisted "My supervisor just told me that we are unable to do that. I asked him just now while we were taking care of this"I doubt he conslted his supervisor because he never stopped talking or engaging with me. Does anyone have any advise in the event my account is not credited properly? I am very affraid that on Tues,July 5th I am going to be out the last bit of money I have to my name. I will be homeless and will not have another dime to my name untill when my dissability check is put into my bank on August. 1st. I told this guy my financiall situation and not to do it, I didn't verbally authorize the gold plan in the amount of 317.00 to be taken out of my account in the first place.

Hopefully I havent been scammed but realizing how things went over the phone.. He was very good at telephone sales and pretty quick and slick about getting that money approved out of my account before I realized what was going on, while he was doing the approval and submitting for the funds he was continuously engaging me in conversation. wham before I knew it he was saying ok your all set..first I want to say congradulations on joining smc, I have just one more thing for you now before I hang so write it down..I then heard the word approval code and freaked.

Im glad he didt hang up when he heard me tell him not to and said to him that I did not tell you that that was my decision to purchase the gold plan. If any one has any advise for me in the case my bank acct. isnt credited on tuesday,7/5 please post. I will post the results as to whether my money was credited to my account or not.

I am saying a prayer that they will put the money back into my account as stated and that this company isnt dishonest. After reading some of the negative posts and recalling my telephone conversation with this salesperson I am very concerned. I am keeping faith though because not all the posts in re: to smc were negative feedbacks and quite positive. Thanks in advance for any information or references to help in the event I am left without my money.

SMC has credited my account. However, there promise of it taking 5 mimutes to put back in was a false promise. My money did reach my account in the correct amount. It took several days but I am thankfull to have had it put back.

SMC is not a rip-off

Firstly, with all due respect to all individuals' opinions,any post here is simply that: an opinion. We are all entitled to our own, no matter how uninformed, prejudiced, and bitter one may be.

More importantly, I have been an SMC member for over 1 year. I am in Canada so my shipping costs are even higher than those south of the border. Yet, somehow, week after week, I manage to turn a profit at the local flea market. I will never get rich. That is not what it is about for me. However, a few hundred extra dollars every month is fine by me.

I can't even remember which post I read it in (there are SO many), but someone named Jeff has some serious negative feelings about SMC. Obviously, he failed at his attempt with this company. You get nothing for nothing. It's that simple.

SMC knows something about human nature and they are making the most of it. They do offer the tools for sucess. It's up to the individual to make it or break it. To assume any post praising SMC is entered by an SMC employee is narrow-minded and erroneous.

The last point I wish to make is this, and it may prevent my post from being seen beyond my own screen however, I need to say it. How can anyone's opinion be viewed as anything close to intelligent when their spelling and grammar is that of an 11 year old? Sorry Jeff, you aren't coming across as very smart.
