SMC Specialty Merchandise Corporation ripoff Took money from a 67yr. old widow on disability. SIMI VALLEY California

I am a 67yr old widow on disability. I wanted to make money to help buy my medicines. I am on 16 prescription medicines a day.

On their TV ads they gave the impresion that this was a job that could be done at home on your computer.

I paid the $300.00 plus up front so I could get started faster. When I learned that this required going to flea markets or renting booths at affairs I called SMC told them that I was not able to get to these places .

I called smc and told the woman that answered the phone what my problem was and that I wanted to cancel my membership and get my money refunded

The woman told me to mail the membership package back to them and then they would refund my money. I mailed it back to her just the way she told me to insured also.

When I did not receive my refund I called the company again and the lady told me to send a letter to cancel my membership.

I mailed the letter and then I received a letter telling me that the 30 days were up and i didn't cancel in time to get my money back.

When I became a member I was told I had 100 days to cancel, and still get a refund.

This company should be put out of business for the way they treat people that are just trying to get by.
