The bad part about this company is the charges! You "own" your own company - they are "giving" you a website. Gee - $40 a month for a website that NO ONE can get into UNLESS THEY HAVE A GIFT CARD!! Gee - what good is that if they have NO GIFT CARD!! People CANNOT get into your website to buy your merchandise - UNLESS THEY HAVE A GIFTCARD!! They can even let you have a site with ALL of your merchandise (a big catalog with gorgeous stuff in it) for a mere $600!!! My sorry excuse of a coach Nia stated I could have 2 parties a week in my home. Yeah, my pit bulls would love that!! Delivery 2 times a week!! Haha - only kidding about delivery. Now gee - a tupperware salesperson can't even have 2 parties a week in their own home. People AVOID you after that!!! COME ON!!!

Has anyone noticed the "the only authorized company to set up the SMC websites" are at the SAME ADDRESS as SMC Corporation is at? Hummmmm, more money they make off of schmoes like me. They are literally LYING and DECEIVING people into thinking they are 2 different companies, when they are actually one. Seems like shady practices to me. Then your so called "coach" and I use the word loosely, I had Nia, decides I am being hostile when I tell her I can't afford to give them $2,000 - $3,000 to start a business that I was supposed to own when I paid the money up front. And guess what? NO $100 gift certificate as promised!! THEN the member services tells me they can let me have it - but I have to use it RIGHT THEN! Not good for the "full coaching period" as stated in the paperwork.

Gee, am I wrong here, or is the way they make all of their money off of us idiots who actually think this would work. I knew I would have to pay for merchandise up front to take out and sell - I understood that - but unless you have a few thousand dollars to hand over to their 2 companies - you are screwed!!!

I am calling corporate Monday - not that it would do any good - but bring up their deceptive practices. Maybe I will file my own lawsuit for their deceptive business practices. I am a Paralegal in a small southern town. It would hit the media like crazy!! "Paralegal files lawsuit against big corporate ripoff company SMC - Specialty Merchandising Corp. for deceptive practices!" I wouldn't need an attorney. Maybe I will file a lawsuit - unless their is an attorney with the kahauna's out there wanting media attention with a class action lawsuit for something other than "prescription drugs gone wrong". We would win AND EXPOSE them for the rip offs they truly are! Deceptive practices are morally wrong, and somewhere, and I will find it - legally wrong.

SMC's Fraudalent Business Practices Splashed throughout the Media...a Brilliant Idea!

AUTHOR: Caryn - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, April 30, 2008

I too, was taken advantage of by SMC...and would love to see something done to stop them.

The power of the media...can many times override any legal efforts. SMC has a host of their own attorneys...that somehow find loopholes in many cases against them. But it IS true they are MISINFORMING the public...and only stating what is necessary to draw people into their scheme. They talk up a storm...of how much money you can make with an SMC business...but the truth be known...SMC is the ONLY one making money here!

They lure people in, by stating it costs only a small fee to startup a business with them. Once they get you on the phone...that is when you find out...ALL the other HUGE costs involved to become a member, NOT to mention the ridiculous amount of money the want for a so-called website.

You're right...they sell people on this idiotic idea of a GIFT CARD website...which is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. No one knows about the site...nor can they purchase from it...WITHOUT a giftcard...which you have to buy lot's of from SMC, to give out or sell to those you want to try and obtain as a customer.

I initiall told them, I wanted a FULL SERVICE E-COMMERCE site. That's what they told me I'd get...when in fact...all I was given was this obsurd GIFT CARD SITE. When I told them that this WAS NOT the type of site I told them I was interested in...SURPRISE - SURPRISE...someone said to me "I'm sorry you were told that is the type of site you purchased...but you can get a FULL SERVICE SITE...if you add $2000." What a surprise...BAIT AND SWITCH!!! That is their M/O.

They are grossly misrepresenting their offer...when they state you can get started for a small fee...when in fact...that is only the beginning...and you find out later, that they require more money, if you really want to do well and make money with their system. Even though...no matter how much you pay them...that will NEVER happen.

The reason they got involved in selling websites...a business they know NOTHING about...is due to the fact they've completely saturated the market...selling their packages as they were. You get out there...and find out...that millions of others are your competition. It is IMPOSSIBLE to make money that way.

It's pitiful that they've gotten away with this for so long...and they DO need to be stopped. I know for a fact...that myself and many others would be happy to join forces with you...to get a class action started against SMC...for their fraudalent business practices.

The media would be the best way to get this out to the public...and really show SMC...that they dont' know who they've been messing with.

I've been in contact with a lawyer that's in the process of gathering names of people to join a class action. It's a process...to get this started...but I AM NEVER GIVING UP!! I want SMC to see how they've hurt so many people...and would love to see the day...when they are forced to refund all the money of the parties involved in the lawsuit. They need to be taught a valueable lesson. Yes...you're in business to make money...but there are honest ways to do so.

I'm sorry to hear you're also been hurt by this company. And I'd love to join forces with you...to take them down!

FORGOT ABOUT "MAILING LISTS"

AUTHOR: Barbara - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, April 27, 2008

Do you people know why they insist on the websites being only by registration and gift cards? SO THEY CAN SELL YOUR CUSTOMER'S NAMES TO OTHER SMC PEOPLE!! They state they buy the names from another company. NOPE!! They are creating mailing lists using the SMC websites of the people who "own their own business" and selling the customers of one member to other members.

I AM contacting the Attorney General tomorrow about them. They are deceptive. Just because they have been around for 50 years does NOT make them legal. Remember the lawsuits against Publishers Clearing House for making false promises to people? It was a big lawsuit. Publishers Clearing House had to change some of its advertisements and mailing disclosures.

Let's all join together and see if we can get the Federal Government and our State Governments to force SMC to be truthful to everybody they deal with instead of telling them a bunch of lies to keep making even more money off of people!!!
