Trey Smith provided a written quotation for doing some outside work at our house, in April 2013. I called and took references - they were fine.
Based on that we agreed a schedule for the work and I gave him a deposit for $3000 to cover materials. 2013 was a very wet summer so when he said they would delay the start of work I wasn't unduly worried. By October I was annoyed and asked for a refund of my money.
He said he'd put a check in the post.... Then the lies and games began, and have continued until now. I have had a check from him - needless to say it bounced. This has been a very unpleasant experience.
Do NOT ever give this man money.
