affter asking me if I had a print/fax/scan/copy machine and I stated yes i did. the company is located in Hong Kong and seems legit but the mail check things has me nervous
I received an email through indeed.com that a job is interested in interviewing me. Upon replying, indeed.com shares my contact information. To interview, instructions were listed on how to have the interview conducted through Google Hangouts. Once in Hangouts, I was in toucch with Chambers Edwards who used poor grammar and had several typos. This is unprofessional and the language translated in the format of broken Chinese English. I inquired if an interview was available before 8 am and the contact confirmed with an "okay" and closes the conversation. The contact them contacts me at noon the next day, hours after the time I inquired was available for the interview to take place. The contact proceeds with the interview and everything checks out, however, I was asked my sex, name and cell number. Which I provided. Also, the contact stated there was a Check to be mailed to me to purchase the necessary supplies to begin training and training begins when I receive the check. I wasn't comfortable with this part and my questions seemed to be low-key brushed off and the contact didn't open the floor for me to ask questions. I am familiar customs may be different in a Chinese workplace VS America's but there had to be some form of proper communication and etiquette for a company that's been in business since 1985. There are websites, linkedin profiles, and some website mentionings of this company. I couldn't shake that I could possibly be a victim and I didn't want to be.

This all seemed legit to you??? Did you know that this type scam has been reported on tens of thousands of times over the years, across the internet?! The setup: a legit company's name is fraudulently used by scammers, in order to make naive/ignorant job seekers feel at ease. The interview is conducted via yahoo messanger or gmail hangouts.
REAL COMPANIES DON'T INTERVIEW THAT WAY! The payrate itself should have sent warning bells. You should be relieved you didn't go thru with this as the scammers would have sent you a fake cheque, then had you wire the majority of it thru wenstern union to them. You would have been responsible for the full amount with your bank, when it bounced.
With your printer and computer, they would had you making fake cheques, probably would have had you receiving goods purchased with stolen credit cards and re-shipping and finally, if they had gotten you account information, they would have cleaned you out. The authorities can't go after anyone in Hong Kong, so guess who would have had the police at their door: YOU!
