In Dec. 2006, I ordered three biothane horse harnesses from Smucker's harness. A singles harness and a team harness. I received them in Jan. 2007 We had bad weather for several months so I didn't even open any of the four boxes.

In about aug. 2007 I had a friend come over to help me put the harnesses on and make the adjustments. When we had the team harness on he said, "okay, where are the poles straps?" I said "what are pole straps?" He said they connect the breast collars to the pole of the carriage.THERE WERE NO POLE STRAPS IN THE BOXES!
Also, I am a seriously handicapped 56 yr. old and am only able to drive on rare occassions.

When I called smuckers to ask that they send pole straps, the unknown women I spoke to basically called me a liar and a thief, by implying that she thought I wore out the straps and just want a free pair.

I have a six figure income with very little debt and had just spent $3000. on harnesses and this woman is accusing me of trying to cheat them out of a $90.00 pair of pole straps.

My friend and I rigged the team harness with 2 nylon belts as pole straps and drove the team a short distance. It just didn't work.I waited until nov. 2007 to finally call smuckers because I was really upset that they did not send me complete harnesses and didn't want to end up in a rage.

If anyone would like, I will e-mail you current photos of my STILL BRAND NEW HARNESSES. In the meantime, I was unable to drive my team in the "Toys For Tots" parade and next week I will also miss the "joy Junction" (homeless shelter) Christmas parade.

I highly recommend you purchase your harnesses from someone other than smuckers. They basically ripped me off because now I have $2000. of worthless harness.

Smuckers harness quality and service

I have won two world championships (2005 and 2007) and one reserve championship (2006) driving show mules. Daniel Smucker built a 6-Up show harness for me that is the finest harness that I have ever seen, bar none, and the service was extraordinary, including a personal visit to the ranch in Oregon to assure correct fit and features. I am an employee of Smucker's Harness Shop, Inc. & came across this Rip Off Report just recently. I am the lady Bruce spoke to when he called. I did not call him a liar but I was confused. The reason I was confused about the pole straps being missing was that Bruce called over 10 months after the harness left our location. We had sent this pair harness to one of our dealers & our dealer sent the pair harness to Bruce. In the meantime the dealer had moved & there was no way of contacting her.

We sent a pair of pole straps out at no charge the end of November, 2007 (not having any idea that this report was filed). We do not appreciate that it appears like we refused to take care of this when we have.
