SoCal DBA, This is a scam!! I received an authentic looking notification in the mail for renewal for $75!! with the O.C. Clerk-Recorder's name and address on it. I am not due to renew for a year! This is a scam! What tipped me off was Diamond Bar, Arkansas

I received a government official looking document in the mail from SoCal DBA telling me my Fictitious Business Name was about to expire. "To renew Simple.. Complete, sign the FBN form" and mail with payment of $75.00!

What tipped me off was that my renewal is not due for another year! This amount is extraordinary as it only costs $23.00.

The form looks very authentic with the Orange County Clerk-Recorder's name and address prominently displayed. I almost wrote them a check. It would be easy to miss one's original filing date as it is typed in a very inconspicuous place. They appear to be getting these dates from the Newspaper as the date used was the one when my request was published in the Newspaper and not

the actual month of filing.
