I checked out SOFTLAYER on the BBB and they have an F RATING. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT DO business with SOFTLAYER for your hosting needs. They conduct ILLEGAL Billing scams. Their billing FRAUD HAS BEEN EXPOSED!!!1

I have been a customer with softlayer for the past 4 years and besides their RIDICULOUSLY HIGH monthly cost for  hosting and dedicated servers, they are conducting BILLING FRAUD on customers account. I found out that i was not the only customer who have been experiencing billing issues with this company. My doing business with them dates back to when they were originally The Planet. I had problems with updating my credit card in their system because their billing interface is designed to charge customers 2 to 3 times causing problems, frustration, and headaches.

My monthly payment was late due to my credit card being cancelled. So I then attempted to upload my new credit card in their system, everything was the same as far as the address associated with the card that softlayer had on file previoulsy. So since everything was the same, the only thing I needed to do was update the new card number and everytime I would update the new card ACCURATELY with the correct CVV and expiration date, their interface would tell me that "the card does not match the address on file" when in fact the address on the card where statements were sent to was the same and NOTHING CHANGED.

I attempted to upload the new card information 4-5 times and each time it declined and said the information did not match and their FRAUD BILLING SYSTEM charged my card $1.00 each attempt even though they did not accept the updated information. Thats a red flag. Why is the card being charged if my so called information is not matching. Their were two disgruntled emlpoyees from sofltayer working the billing dept that night of 05/28/12 when the fraud took place and was exposed. JENNIFER AND ANDY from dallas TX.

After several calls between softlayer and my bank. I came across JENNIFER working in billing. She advised me that their is NO WAY that they could update my new CC info manually because it was against their rules and that I would have to call back the next day and speak with a supervisor to have that done. Those were her exact words. But Ifelt that they were purposely giving me the run around and toying with my emotions so I kept calling back and when I got in touch with ANDY, he then said he would take my CC information and update it manually for me and this was a few minutes after his disgruntled work sidekick JENNIFER told me that they couldnt update it manually.

Why would they say that and then do what they did and updated my card manually? You the reader decide! I then contacted my Wells fargo which is who I bank with and they said that the payment of $131 has been accepted and is pending and was not declined and should be out of the account by the next business day. But the SOFTLAYER  system told me that the bank rejected my payment, which was a LIE. SOFTLAYER IS usining a billing FRAUD SYSTEM that many companies use to double charge consumers in hopes that they don't find out. Well I'm the wrong one to mess with. I will expose SOFTLAYER FOR the BILLING FRAUD, that they are committing.

The disgruntled employee by the name of ANDY, who was working that night has been trained and knows how their system works and he PURPOSELY  made that i received double billing because he KNEW that the system was going to charge my card at midnight after he updated it manually but he still told me to submit the one time payment option. This is how they conduct the BILLING FRAUD, they design the system to inform you the card has been rejected when in fact, it was charged. And then you think that it hasn't been charged so you continue to attempt to submit multiple payments on your card inadvertently.

This is another monetary scheme that companies get away with but its actually fraud. Though they do refund your money when you spot the deceptive act, it can take up to 7-15 days before the funds reach your account and 25% of these fraudelant charges go unrecognized and forgotten and this is how they make extra money through the BILLING FRAUD. If you are considering hosting services online, STAY AWAY FROM SOFTLAYER, formerly known as THE PLANET. DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!!!. I woke up on the 05/29/12 and checked my bank statement only to find that they charged my card twice.

I spoke with Nicki, their day supervisor and she acted as if she didn't know whats going on and pretended like she wanted to help by getting on the phone with the bank and reversing the charge. She then told me it would be back in my account within a few hours but the processing takes 7-15 days. This is the FRAUD CYCLE, 25 to 30% of billing fraud cases that they commit goes under the radar. But I have exposed them and their billing FRAUD SYSTEM, so now maybe they will attempt to fix their lying, deceitful, billing system from the softlayer customer portal that misleads and tells customers that their card was declined when in fact ITS A FRAUD THEY ARE COMMITING.

Their Supervisor Nicki had the nerver to tell me that I inputted the CVV # on the back of the card incorrectly when i know for a fact I did not. How is that possible for me to enter the CVV incorrectly and still received the charge on my account and have their system tell me the bank rejected the charge but when i called the bank and checked my statement online it reflected the charge. THIS IS TEXT BOOK BILLING FRAUD 101!!! And to the superiors of those 2 disgruntle, lying employees JENNIFER AND ANDY, I would reconsider their employment because they just opened a can of worms on SOFTLAYER!!!
