So first I would like to start off with. I am only writing this because I feel bad for the future talent that waste their time and money with this agency Soho Management in Kingston, Ontario. #1 Go big or go home. This is a small agency. Run by one dis-honest lady. If your going to model do your research and go with a known agency. A reputable agency. Not only does she over charge for photo shoots , composite cards, website fees and printing fees. A different price is made for every talent. Whatever she's feeling that day. They also make you pay website fees in advance for 1 year. Which if you choose to leave the agency, you don't get back. This agency favours certain talent. Meaning she only submits certain talent that she feels will make her money. She has about three favourites that she submits for most jobs, I feel bad for the ones who sit and wait and check their email daily that don't get submitted for any jobs but think they are. Although she will sign anyone onto the agency just to make a quick buck on the photo shoots and make her agency look bigger and better.

I also found that a lot of the jobs I was being submitted for weren't suited for me. I felt like I was just submitted for agency exposure when I knew before even going into the auditions that I wouldn't get it because the description wasn't me at all. Therefore spending a ton on gas driving to and from the auditions. In the end between the photo shoot $700, printing fees for comp cards, $261 and 1 year website fee of $120 which might i say doesn't even run. (It was running not quite sure what happened to it.) Your spending about $1000 just to start with this small inexperienced agency. So If I can give any advice to the future talent thinking about signing with this agency. Ya Toronto and ottawa are a little further but in the end it's worth not getting screwed over by this scam and joke of an agency.

Response from SoHo Management

AUTHOR: SoHo Management - (Canada)

POSTED: Friday, September 21, 2012

I first of all want to thank one of my actors for bringing this to my attention so I could address it. We have never represented anyone by the name of Daniel Oxford. We are sure that the person that posted the above comments is actually a former model that we represented, posting under a different name.  She was fired from a job due to her attitude and inappropriate behaviour and then was released from the agency.

I completely understand that in any business there will be unhappy clients/customers and there is nothing we can do to avoid anyone saying negative comments, especially in a vanity industry like modelling. It is unfortunate that we had to release this person, as she had talent and promise (she even mentioned that she was getting castings/go-sees and jobs in her posting above for paid work). But our reputation working with clients that would potentially hire our other actors and models in the future is obviously more important. Any casting director/designer or director that would have to deal with problem talent on set would not want to book anyone else from SoHo if this continued. Her website fee that she did pay in 1 year in advance was refunded for the remaining months she had left despite what she has said above, even though she breached her contract and we were not obligated to do so. As we tell all our new talent, they do not have to book photos through us. They can get them done through anyone who is reputable and does quality work. She was told this as well and chose to go through us.

After doing some research about "Rip Off Report" we have found that this company is situated in Arizona, and has no validity what-so-ever. I attempted to contact the company to have the post removed and was told that I had to follow the "Arbitration" link in order to proceed since the posting above is completely false and provide the appropriate documentation. Which I started the process until I got to this:

"As explained in the Program Rules, the process begins when you provide Ripoff Report with three things: 1.) a signed copy of theArbitration Agreement; 2.) a complete copy of your Arbitration Statement including any and all supporting evidence, such as documents orWitness Statements (subject to limitations which are discussed in detail in the Program Rules) you want the Arbitrator to review; and 3.) a check for the $2,000 arbitration fee. No arbitration matter will begin until we receive all of these things."

I was told that I could not have the posting removed, despite the fact that our logo is trademarked, without giving them a $2000 cheque!!!!

In the end, anyone can post anything about anybody or any business on this website without proof or validation and then you need to PAY to have it taken down.
