There is another posting by a woman named Ellen about Solar Brite at this web site. Art Meyer rebutted, claiming she is a disgruntled ex employee. I assure you I am a disgruntled customer of Solar Brite and many of my complaints are the same as Ellen's.
I have Solatube skylights installed by a different Solatube dealer, Brighter Concepts. They were very professional both in the quality of their work and their conduct in my home. When I called to have another skylight installed I was informed their Illinois office was closed and they were operating out of Milwaukee. I called Solar Brite as they were closer to my home. I expected similar pricing and professionalism. They are a certified Solatube dealer just like Brighter Concepts. Was I wrong!
On several occasions Art Meyer did not return my calls.
The price was never discussed until the installers were in my driveway. Then I learned it would be over $200 more than Brighter Concepts.Because of the design of my remodeling job I was committed to using this type skylight. I let the install continue thinking I could make a case for a price adjustment later. Wrong again.
The workers used rough language among themselves but within ear shot of everyone in my house.
They tried to talk me out of running a duct from the vent fan to the roof vent probably to save money and time. This would, of course, defeat the purpose of the vent fan.
The fan they used is so loud it can be heard all over my house. Brighter Concepts used a vent fan that I can hardly hear.
The lens on the Solar Brite installation doesn't fit properly. It looks like the installers bent the tube to get it to stay up. It's still not seated properly and it's crocked.
I contacted Solatube International about these problems. They said they assume no responsibility for their dealers. They didn't care if the end user of their product was overcharged or if the work is shoddy.

After several months, I met with Art Meyer of Solar Brite and we came to an agreement about price. I was refunded a reasonable amount.
Art Meyer did as much as I expected to make the situation right. At this point I feel better about having done business with Solar Brite.

John, when you called me to have your Solatube installed the only thing you were worried about was matching the existing Style of exhaust system. I told you at that time that the model you were looking for was no longer available but I would send out an e-mail looking for one. I found the matching old style vent system and set up your installation.
We gave you the price of the installation B-4 we started the installation just as you state in your letter. You could have told us no at that point.
If you compare the Brighter Concepts pricing you will see it is $905.00 for a fan/light installation. We charged you $960.00 as we had to locate and ship a special discontinued vent system to us for you installation. The difference of $55.00 barley covers this cost.
John, you never said a word about anything wrong with the installation, and I would actually like to come and see and hear what your talking about as BOTH Systems were manufactured by Solatube and are the SAME products.
I will call you to set up a service appointment

I really do appreciate your input regarding both of the companies that you discussed. Even though Brighter Concepts is no longer in Mt. Prospect they still do work in the area. I also spoke with with Art at Solarbrite regarding prices, but after your report and looking on the BBB.ORG well you did make up out minds.If Brighter Concepts costs more but there quality of work is better I guess thats the trade off.
I would really like to see there work if possible??
