My husband purchased a "Nikon D40 Exclusive Package w/New! 18-50mm & 55-200mm and More!" Like most everyone else, he was contacted to confirm the order and told that the battery & charger weren't included. Now this was a Chistmas present to me and he wanted it delivered by 12-25. They talked him out of the package he ordered for $459.00, and into getting just the 55-200 mm lense with the battery charger & battery for $700.
When the camera was received on christmas morning, it wasn't what he ordered and he wasn't happy. I didn't care because I had my camera. When I went to attached the lens to the camera, IT WAS BROKEN!!! We tried calling Sonic for approx. 3 days. After many attempts by my husband, I finally got through to them.
I started explaining our situation and then my husband took over. We explained what had happened and the gentleman on the phone (David) made everything OK. I received an authorization number to return the camera by UPS and in return receceived a new camera body, 18-50mm & 55-200mm and didn't have to pay shipping or insurance.
My husband did contact the FBI, his cedit card company, NY attorney generals office and the BBB and filed a report. Although our outcome was satisfactory, I wouldn't do business with them again. After reading all of the comments regarding this company, I don't feel comfortable do business with them again.
Sonic Cameras deals in the "gray market" items. I'm not sure what this means, but it makes me uncomfortable and I didn't know this until I went to fill out the warranty papers on line.
Just do your research before you buy. Learned this lesson the hard way.

Grey market...

That term generally means that the equipment was intended for another market (say Malaysia) and imported into another market (USA in this case). They tend to be slightly cheaper, but you will probably have difficulty getting them serviced here. Nikon USA or Canon USA will not honor warranties on those cameras and won't even repair them if you have a problem. You'd have to ship it back to whatever market it was intended for.
Some legitimate companies offer grey market gear but they will clearly label the products so that you know what you are buying. They also offer store warranties on the cameras.
Now about Sonic... Businesses such as Sonic, Broadway Photo, 86th St. Photo and a million other names operate by purchasing large quantities of grey market cameras with favorable financing terms. They could buy a million dollars worth of gear and take a year to pay it off.
Then they lure customers in with the low prices and upsell items that would normally come with the camera (battery, body cap, etc). By the time you are done, the price would be well above what it would have cost to just go to the store and buy a USA camera bundle.
If you refuse all of the attempts to upsell and just buy the camera body, you will be told that the item is "out of stock".
