My Sony PS3 has stopped working again because of mandatory software updates.
I have the 80 GB Motorstorm bundle version. It started giving me issues last year with update 2.0 or so. At first a few of my PS1 games wouldn't load. Then another update came and some of the PS2 games wouldn't load.
Next thing I know none of the PS3 or any of my blue ray movies would load. Every thing worked fine until these mandatory updates came along. I had to save my money so that I could have it repaired,(it cost me $150.00 Freaking dollars) we sent it off to be repaired back in June or July of 2009.
I get it back and my kids tell me it works fine, things were great for about 3 months (just after the 90 day warranty they gave me expired). And then today (Oct 28, 2009) they were playing it and it just shut off. They went to turn it back on and the power led went from a red, to a white-ish yellow, to green, then to a flashing red.
They told me about it and I went to turn it back on. When I got to it the power led was still flashing red, I pressed the power button and the light goes to a steady red. I push it again and then it goes to green, then white-ish yellow, to green, then to flashing red again.
I just went and tried it again to make sure I have the sequence of colors it was going through correct. Now it goes from from flashing red, press power again, then it goes to steady red, press it again it goes to green, to the white-ish yellow, then skips the green and goes to flashing red.
It is not consistent with the color sequence that its going through. I don't know what update has been recently downloaded, I will have to ask my kids tomorrow. All I know is that if this is a software problem again (as I feel it was with update 2.0) I will be d@mned if I am going to pay another $150.00 USD to repair something that I paid $699.00 for back in Nov of 2007.
Sony better wake up and smell the coffee, the Wii just may put them out of business!
This is a post that I made to the PS3 web site forum.
As of now there are 58 or 59 pages of complaints about update 3.0 and 3.01 from Sony for the PS3. There should be a class action lawsuit filed against them for this. It is rediculous to keep paying $150 every 6 months to a year down the road to get your PS3 repaired because of some lousy mandatory update they force upon us.
Please let me know what is being done about this.
thank you,
Brian Mizell
Your Desired Resolution:
I would like to have my PS3 repaired so that it will work properly and not crash or have any issues each time a new update is forced upon me from the Sony Corporation.
If that is not possible then I would just like to have a refund of the full price I paid for the product when it was new, and a refund of the $150.00 USD that I paid to have it repaired back in June or July of 2009.
