I recently Purchased a 1992 passat from these guys at 1000 dollars over list price, thinking that if i spend this much on a used car from a dealership, i would be getting a good car. About 3 days after getting the car home, it basically stopped working. i could drive it a few KMs, but then it would just die. I tried to have them fix it, but it just sat at their lot for two weeks. they finally sent the car to another dealer, who just made it worse. i spoke to their General manager about this, and he told me that anyone who buys a 92 and expects it to run has their head up thei a**, and then promptly told me to go f*ck myself.

Now i am out 2500 dollars, and i have a car that doesnt run, and no money to fix it, as i had just spent 2500 dollars on a 92. DO NOT buy a used car from them as they will not stand behind their products. I didn't want it to come to this, but i feel like i was forced into tis situation after being treated like dirt from the manager.

Everyone else besides David Baker has been polite and proffesional, but i can't believe that a business would treat a paying customer like this.

deposit refunded

AUTHOR: Tanner - (Canada)

POSTED: Wednesday, September 19, 2012

My deposit has been refunded.  Thanks David.  I apologize for my previous comments.  Perhaps I was wrong and should have made more of an effort in contacting the Business manager and/or you.  I guess I over reacted a bit.

As owner of the company I am not aware of this issue of no bill of sale and a deposit being taken

If this is in fact the case the deposit will be refunded

This company always makes every effort to resolve issues with customers

I too was also ripped off...

AUTHOR: Tanner - (Canada)

POSTED: Sunday, September 16, 2012

I almost bought a car with south deerfoot suzuki but then canceled due to various personal reasons.  However, at this point I had already been charged a 500 dollar deposit from my credit card (I foolishly gave them the card number).  I thought I would get this money back when I canceled the order but I was wrong.  After a couple days of canceling my order, I checked my credit card only to find the 500 dollar deposit had not been returned.  I asked about it from the sales guy who I dealt with and was given the phone number of the Business Manager who was conveniently unavailable when I phoned him.  I gave my name and number to his secretary and was told he would phone me back, which he never did.

It has now been 10 days since I canceled my purchase of a car from south deerfoot suzuki and I'm still without my money.  These people are smooth criminals in my opinion and are con artists who should be prosecuted and put in jail for grand theft and gross negligence among other things.

I still have the bill of sale/contract (which I never signed) and no where is it written that the 500 dollar deposit is non refundable.  Acknowledgement of receiving the deposit is written on the bill of sale.  I wish there was something I could do to get my money back.

I was also ripped off.

I purchased a highend import from south deerfoot suzuki. On the test drive a noticed a leak and some other minor concerns. They gave their word they would fix all the questionable issues. On the pick up day i got the invoice for the items they supposedly resolved, plus the out of province inspection that was supposedly excellent and their own certified inspections. The day after the pick up of my new purchase the car starts acting up and continues to leak. I called them because it was a weekend i told them i would bring it in on Monday. I finally make there on monday (3 days later) and the car completely dies on their lot right infront of the general manager. I told him i want my money back, that they obviously sold me a lemon. He told me i was over reacting and he was sure it was a minor glitch and they would resolve it. The gave me loner car which also did not work properly and i finally got my car back over a week later. The car was back to South Deerfoot Suzuki 3 more time within a month. Each time I asked for my money back and they refused. I finally got my own inspection at a very high end shop and paid alot a money for a out of town inspection, but well worth it. The car that was sold to me should have never passed any kind of inspection, especially a out of province inspection! according to the seperate shop inspection, i was told it was a danger on the road and i should have never been driving it, and no mechanic should have passed the inspection. I got AMVIC involved, and i had legal back up just in case it did not work with AMVIC. Thank goodness the inspectors at AMVIC told my case very seriously and forced South Deerfoot Suzuki to reimburse all my money! I guess David Baker is very well know to have lied and cover up many times in the past and continues to do so. Shame on you David Baker and to all the employees a South Deerfoot Suzuki who know the wrongs that are going on but do not have the courage to speak up and say something like the wonderful mechanic who finally said he was forced to pass the inspection on the car. Anyone who has any questionable issues with a car they purchase at South Deerfoot Suzuki and feel that they are being ripped off or lied to, get a second opinion and get AMVIC involved!

to the response from Suzuki...

AUTHOR: Josh - (Canada)

First of all, they did do an inspection on the car, but they falsified at least 3 things that i could see.

And if they fixed the brakes, why was the master cylinder fluid cap hanging off, just about to fall in the belts when i brought the car home??? Major safety issue there. i did mention these things to them , but they were too busy shouting at me to listen.

And i did only get obnoxious when the manager started screaming at me and calling me names, and i demanded it be fixed NOW because it had already been in their shop for several weeks, not a matter of hours. thats why i as so firm with him, because polite and patient had not been effective for the two and a half weeks that it had supposedly been worked on.

I never once brought up the issues of the heater not working, the headlights turning off and on while driving, the power locks not working, the sunroof not working, and the rear wheel bearing which requires immediate attention as well. All of this stuff i would have let slide without mention if they could have got the engine to run normally.

Now i posted a rebuttal earlier stating that it may have been to soon for me to post, but after reading the response from the dealer its clear that they had not heard one word i had said.

As for the price of the car, it had been reduced before i had even set eyes on the vehicle, so to me that is a non issue. Blue book lists that car as being worth 1500 dollars at a MAXIMUM.

For the warranty,  i asked before i signed--- "is this car mechanically sound?" to the reply from the salesman --- "yes, there are absolutely no issues with the car at all". And david also screamed at me that they wer not capable with the tools and diagnostic equipment available to them to fix the car any way, so a warranty would have just been a waste of mney, right?? i mean if he said himself that they can't fix the car, why would i spend MORE money just to have it stay broken. And secondly its an EXTENDED warranty, my problems started 2 days out the door.

And as i had stated before, the car had been with them for repairs for over two weeks before i was told to f*** myself, adn i was only "in his face" after that many weeks, and i didn't want to wait til david " had the time to do it." In my opinion, two and a half weeks is plenty of time.

During those two weeks i had been dealing with the sales and service manager, who was pleasant, polite and professional. He and i had been talking back and forth in a very civil manner. My only regret was talking to David Baker in the first place, as we would never be here posting back and forth in the first place.

received a call from them, and they agreed to fix it.

AUTHOR: Josh - (Canada)

POSTED: Wednesday, January 20, 2010

So after posting my story here, i received a phone call saying that they would work on the car. I never wanted it to come to this as previously stated, but it seemed as though after being told off by the manager that I was going to get no where.

The Sales and Service manager who i had been dealing with has been polite and professional, and i wish that i had never had the misfortune of going over his head and being called out by his manager, and having it come to this point.

Now the fact that the car is being looked at is a start, and a good one, and it looks as though my problem should be resolved. I wrote my original post in anger, as i believed that i was s**t out of luck at that point, as many people would have, but apparantly david has apologized to my girlfriends father for the things he has said and i accept that apology.

I would have never posted here if things had not gone so way out of hand, and i don't want to ruin the reputation of a company that doesn't deserve it, but at the time, in my eyes they certainly did.

I will post an update soon, to let everyone know how it goes, but i've definitely learned my lesson not to buy a used car again.

JOSHUA CAMERON v South Deerfoot Complaint

AUTHOR: David - (Canada)

POSTED: Wednesday, January 20, 2010

Mr Cameron did purchase a vehicle at $1000.oo below the listed price, he was offered an extended warranty and refused in writing to purchase any warranty which would have cost as little as $200.00

The vehicle we sold had a safety inspection prior to delivery and we replaced the brakes at a cost of $650.00

The vehicle ran fine at the time of delivery however Mr Cameron encountered some minor problem with the 02 sensor after a few days.    We had the vehicle in the shop and was unable to replicate the problem:  We then sent the vehicle to the VW dealer at our cost and they were unable to replicate the problem:

We agreed again to bring the vehicle back in our shop and Mr Cameron in an extreme obnoxious manner demanded that we deal with his vehicle immediately and not in a couple of hours.

Later that day he had a relative visit our premise and discuss the issue with us, The relative stated clearly that Mr Cameron was the type of person "who gets in your face" however this person agreed that we were attempting to help.

We are an upstanding dealer and help when help is due.  We have an excellent record in business and will not be confronted with inaccuracies as outlined by Mr Cameron.
