Specialty Merchindise Corporation SMC, Simi Valley, CA SMC Calls A with a Hard Sell, But Then When I Signed Up I Found Out I Could not Cancel Right Away Simi Valley, California

A representative from SMC, Christine, calls me at home and tells me that their program is the most terrific and greatest wholesaling home business there is.  She then sells me a platinum membership for $500 to purchase wholesale merchandise and earn up to 70% profit, and get $1,200 back for merchandise to sell.  However, I told her to charge two credit cards and she agreed.  She then charges the entire fee to one credit card, and then calls me back and apologizes for doing it, and that she called her supervisor, that it was going to be reversed and then split with the two credit cards, but never did it.  I had first investigated them with the National BBB, and they showed as 0 complaints; however, immediately after I signed up I looked them up on line and at the local BBB and found thousands of complaints against them.  When I was talking to Christine, she was just doing a hard sell and would not even hear what I was saying, and should had been a clue about their tactics.  In addition, 30 minutes after I found out about their complaints, I started emailing them, faxing them calling them and it fell on deaf ears.  I even faxed them some of the complaints.  But then 30 hours after I had signed up, after I had told them repeatedly to cancel and to not mail me the kit, I received an email today, telling me that the kit is on the way.  I then tried to call customer service 5 more times, and would be transferred to an automated line, telling me how to cancel by waiting for the kid and then returning it, but I hung up.  This company tries to force themselves on a customer, even a new customer.  Even if they did not have complaints against them, just the convoluted and elusive system they have would have prompted me to cancel.  Beware of this companys hard sell and forcibility to receive the kit, when we don't want it.  After wasting over 30 hours, I finally called my credit card company, and they reversed my $500 and blocked the company, after I got off the phone with customer service for the 5th time and were adamant in telling me that I had to follow their instructions on cancelling.  In other words, they wanted me to accept the kit, and then call and cancel, so they can deduct fees, when I already had told them not to mail the kit.  I told them I was going to refuse it, but they would tell me that I would incur fees that way, and would forfeit my refund, as if I did not know what I was doing, since I'm embarrassed to say, as a CPA Candidate, fell for this scam.  They use Tom Bossley as a trustworthy figure to convince us that it is a good and honest company.  I am willing to bet that the merchandise is imported from overseas from countries where they subject children to hard labor.  Do not fall for their hard sell and their pretty talk.  By the way, Christine puts the call on mute, so I can hear her but she can't hear me.  These are the numbers Christine gave me:  888-635-9230 for Coaching, 800-345-4762 for customer service, 800-794-8418- x 4908 for Christine's direct line; however, a voice mail for Charles answers.
