At the beginning of 2010, my husband tried to get in Spencerian College to be a respiratory therapist.  He had to take some extensive tests which took several times to pass even though he already had great grades at Ivy Tech.  He passed the tests and was told he was accepted as long as he passed a background check.  He of course passed the background check but then 9 weeks before school starts in June of 2011, he was told that he had to take the test again because it had been a year since he had first failed it.  I would think you would go by the point that he passed which was 1 part of the test that he just passed in February, 2011.

The test has 7 parts - reading seems to be the hardest one.  Spencerian does not grade the test there they send it off somewhere else.  Students also don't get to view their test to see what they missed or got correct and no one seems to know how the grades are calculated except Spencerian - even though they have tried to explain it to me and my husband, we still don't understand how it works.  Now he has to take all 7 parts again and pass to go to classes starting in June or he doesn't get in.  I'm really tired of being told he's accepted and then told he's not again - it's really getting old.  The lady he works with at Spencerian named Fran has obviously been misinformed about a lot of things.  It would be sad if he doesn't get in on this stupid technicallity that my husband wasn't told about up front.

I went to Indiana University and I never had any of the issues I have seen with these other so called colleges.  This is just one example, but there are several others.  If you don't pass the test the first time, don't waste your time taking it again or all the other bs they put you through.  So if he doesn't get in what will he do then?  He has already withdrawn from his classes at Ivy Tech and they only take applications for Respiratory once a year which is in March so he will be out of school until next summer at the very least that's if Ivy tech doesn't change their major requirements by then which they are also known to do.  I can see now why so many people don't go to college - sadly it has nothing to do with their ability to pass the classes.
