I hired a contractor Spirit Ridge Studios in September 2008 and because he specialized in stained concrete flooring. I hired him to do a total update to my home. He offered me a discount if I paid him up front and said verbally he would throw in things like installing my new appliances after he altered the cabinetry. He showed up twice at my home in nine months to view the workmanship and that was it. He promised to be finished in one month and it is nine months later and he is only 50% complete and has not shown up in a month. He told me he used my money to pay his patent attorney and his couple of workers that he does has told me he doesn't have the money to pay them, so basically he stole my money. After the first two weeks he refused to answer my calls because I questioned his credibility, and I have sent numerous emails demanding he finish my house and he just doesn't respond. The only thing he did was lay the wood flooring and paint the interior. He installed the base coat on the stained concrete floors but never finished the staining and did not seal it, so everything dropped on the floors the last nine months has stained the concrete and will have to be refinished. He still has two lavatories to do in concrete, replace plumbing fixtures, stain the concrete flooring, paint the exterior of the home, replace the garage door, install the appliances, etc. They did not even re-install the dishwasher he removed during painting and I have a new double oven still sitting in my kitchen and spent all my money on him, and don't have the money to hire someone to install it. He also caused electrical shorts with his saw while doing the floors and I cannot even get dressed in my bathroom because the receptacle doesn't work. But here is the BEST PART, when his workers painted they laid plastic over my brand new $5,000 dining room table and an oil candle with wicks overturned and ruined the finish. He has made no effort to repair it even though he said his brother refinishes furniture. He is a liar and a thief, do not hire him. I don't even have the money to hire an attorney, he stole my home improvement loan to pay his attorney!
