I recived one of these as a gift from my wife and thought it was going to be a good experience. NOT!! The unit has always been hit or miss, it never tracked me right and we decided to put it on the shelf after the prepaid year of service was up.

Guess what? 2 years latter we recived abill for 300+ dollars for service that has never been used. My god!! We paid for a year in advance and then expected that would be it since this is not a cell phone contract. In fact, its not a contract at all!! Where do they get off billing us every year without our permission. In reality they never did bill us because we always switch credits/debit cards for this very reason once a year. They just kept the bill running I guess!! Crazy!!

Anyway, I called them and they said that they will remove 1 year of service(remember I have not used this after the firtst prepaid year)but my wife still owes 150+ dollars for whatever. I said to the spot messenger guy that was crazy we never signed up for revolving billing and get this. He told me straight up that I need to pay it or he was sending it to collections and my wifes credit would be going down the tubes.

This souds like the business practice of a infomercial not a real company. I was even thinking about upgrading to their new unit to see if it had the glitchs of my old one worked out but after the rude and threatining comments by their customer service I am staying away from them .

Remember this was a gift so my now wife had no idea that she had to cancle or it would keep billing. I had no idea either!!

You better be very careful with this scam of a company. They only want one thing!! Getting your card/billing info and you are then stuck!! Be sacred, be very scared!!

My Database notes on SPOT Tracker

4/5/2016 Uesterday SPOT billed me for an additional $50.00 because they added "Tracking" to my plan $167.94. I did not authorize this. I called them and of course billing was unable to be contacted, so I spoke to a gal who said they would credit back the $50.00. The credit occured. 35 minutes on the phone to achieve this outcome

4/4/2017 Arturo in Customer care Supervisor Ex5725.
Once again SPOT tried to add another $67.00 to my bill for a total of $184.00 laiming "Tracking" was now a default billable service. Arturo after 23 minutes lowered the bill back down to $117.00.

4/5/2017 These thieves, later in the day yesterday, charged my card an additional $65.00.  Now I have to spend another 25 minutes trying to clear this fraud up.

If you think SPOT is a upstanding company think again. They like many others have driven down the path of fraudulent billing. Adding services to your account without your permission and charging primiums for it. I will cancel SOPT and get a NOAA approved distress beacon that uses a much better satallite system thats maintained by the government.

Well Well...

Looks like I may have been wrong about the comapny. Mabey it was just a bad employee because I recived an email from spot customer service today and they agrreed to remove the old charges and start fresh!!That makes me feel much better about the company. The guy I spoke with yesterday must have been a real jerk and he surely did not represent the companies best intrest.

Now that they have made this effort, I am considering upgrading to their lastest model and trying them again.

I want to thank whoever it was at spot that looked at this again. You should be thanked as I was never going to use your service again. Now, I just might and soon. I am looking for a reliable emergency becon for this summer of Riding....
