I was a happy Metro pcs customer but decided to move to boost mobile as the nationwide coverage of Metro became and issue, So I decided to purchase a Sprint Blackberry of which i found after research could be used on the boost mobile $60.00 per month unlimited plan, I found a seller on craigslist whom happened to be a Sprint employee selling an almost brand new sprint blackberry, upon meeting with sprint employee, she asked whether i had tried a sprint phone before and mentioned the $69.99 unlimited plan, with the rep also assigning a 15% monthly discount as a govt employee, meaning that the bill would be at the most including taxes $58.00 per month, the rep ran my credit and informed me that i qualified for 3 lines with no security deposit required. I decided to try the 30 day sprint guarantee thinking that if i didn't like the service that I could leave and take the blackberry phone to boost mobile for there unlimited plan. Here is where all of the drama starts.....Received first bill of only $39.99, i paid $60.00 on that bill, since i was already budgeted and used to paying $60.00 per month, I paid the $60.00 thinking hey i will have credit next month, i am happy thinking hey this may be a good plan afterall, man was i wrong......Received 2nd bill at the 50 day mark of being a sprint customer, this new bill however was more than double the unlimited plan cost, so I will bullet point the issues below in the interest in keeping it simple...

1. received bill that was double the cost of the unlimited call plan. Was told that there were overages on the 450 anytime landline plan....HUH, WTF....

2. Called Sprint spoke to rep on the phone reviewed bill and rep could not explain which calls on bill are billed as land line calls, asked what billing code would be seen on the bill to indicate a land line call, could not receive an explanation that would make since to me the consumer who is paying the bill here. The only indication on your bill on overages isn't shown until after you are over the minutes that sprint says they have alloted for land line calls, so once you are over they notate your account with a code of OV, however before the overage the calls are listed as regular calls. So, no code to verify that you are calling land lines, however when you are over the limit then the calls are noted, make any sense to folks....So how do you track land line calls that are above and beyond people or businesses you know that are on land lines.....

3. Reviewed the call details with sprint rep, and i must say that i am amazed at what I found out...
A. Sprint charges .45 cents per minute rounded up on incoming calls from landlines, that is correct on incoming calls from landlines....What consumer here knows when they are dialing someone whether the call is a land line and or receiving a call from a land line, as a consumer you may know of family and friends who may have a landline, this you may some control you may know who is on land lines.. However random calls received from familiy, friends, business, you may not be aware that you are being billed at .45 cents per minute per call....So you pay for people calling you from landlines, crazy huh...it gets crazier...
B. Sprint charges you for calling to check your voice mail messages, whether you are aware of it, sprint charges and bills monthly minutes for checking voice mail from their voice mail system, is that not the biggest ripoff ever....I was billed over $30 for checking voice mail over a 45 day period...crazy, never heard of this, give you voice mail and charge your minutes to check it....real crooks here.....

4. I Noticed a $5.00 charge on the bill, asked them and they mentioned that there is a spending limit fee being charged on my account for 18 months, was never informed of a $5.00 fee every month for 18 months when i was told that I was approved for the account, i asked about the removal of this fee and was given an option of removing the fee, but only if automatic bill payments for the bills monthly was added to the account...Do you really think i would give the crooks the key to my bank account, if they are already robbing me with fees.....

5. The sprint rep got permission to reduce the overages by half, however stated in one breath by the way you are already over your minutes again for the current bill, mind you i am still within my first 60 days as a new sprint customer, my 60 days will be 6/17/10.....
6. Was informed that if i cancel contract that there would be a 22 month early termination fee assessed, Was offered a more expensive plan of offset the overage fees, however this $99.00 dollar per month unlimited plan still doesn't list that land line calls are not free and unlimited.

7. So the only option i have is to pay these b**tards, to either get out of the contract, plus pay the new outstanding bill in order to keep my number and to move forward without sprint....geez what a company.....

Have been with sprint for years. The old lady wants to text and what not on her phone so we go in and talk to the sprint rep who talks about the 69.99 UNLIMITED plan. I write down what he tells us. UNLIMITED: TALK, TEXT and internet access, all for 69.99 plus tax. She says ok. Month later she gets a bill for $106. She calls them up and they tell her she WENT OVER on her text messages. WENT OVER????? What happened to UNLIMITED TEXT????? They tell her for an ADDITIONAL $15 she can HAVE UNLIMITED texting. What BS.

I can just actually read their terms and service.

And for the second time, the DO NOT, charge a landline fee. Someone is lying to you. They charge a .45 cent overage charge on the plan you are on, IF YOU GO OVER YOUR 450 MINUTES.

The 99$ plan does not have a minute limit. It's simply Unlimited Anytime, Anyone.

Spending limit fee is not new, and is disclosed to you on the very first piece of paper you have to sign in order to begin your service.

Yes, its a terrible plan and awful charges.

DO NOT blame sprint for not reading what you are signing up for.

Thanx for the reply Sprint employee

I have spoken with 3 different reps from sprint and no one can explain or tell me the consumer what calls on my bill are land line calls, as there isn't a land line call code on the bill, land line calls are listed on the bill with the same code as cell calls on my bill, the sprint system separates the calls only after they are over the 450 land line minutes....Once over the alloted crappy call land line gottcha plan the sprint bill removes the call code and the call code is then replaced with a OV code. As stated my issue is with several things here, and the 30 day contract was not the issue in dispute, it is the $5.00 dollar monthly fees being charged that were not discussed, disclosed, informed to me at the time of purchase and of me becoming a sprint customer, the $7.00 dollar phone insurance was discussed and choosen by me, there was no discussion of the $5.00 fee. The next issue is the fact that sprint charges minutes to check voicemail from the sprint network, I racked up over $30.00 in fees checking my voicemail messages on the sprint network, this was also not told to me upfront. Third of all is the fact that sprint charges me and the consumer for incoming calls from land lines, oh which was never discussed and explained from the sprint sales rep, who would have known that incoming calls would need to be screened by you the consumer as to whether the call is coming from a land line or cell carrier. Can you imagine a situation whereas you are interviewing for jobs and receiving calls from potential employers for phone interviews, or having to simply make a call to your bank, heaven forbid you receive a call from a business regarding whatever the case may be...My girlfriend has a t-mobile unlimited plan for $50.00, plus an extra $20.00 for truly unlimited calling, she pays $71.00 per month which includes taxes....I made a choice to try sprint over boost with the impression of a price difference of maybe at the most $12.00 monthly difference in price, for what was told to me, sprint bigger better company, why i would choose a plan almost double what i intended and was used to paying with metro, Boost was the way that I should have gone, and at this time I will have to give sprint my number that I have had for over 12 years, due to a sales rep not explaining the gotchas of this sprint plan, the options received by sprint were more money per month, automatic billing monthly, or $ pay the cancellation fees, and guess what sprint can take the phone number and shove it....Bad companies will not be able to continue doing business this way, and by the way sprint employee there are complaints that i have submitted that you can respond to look them up at the following www.ftc.com, www.fcc.com, www.bbb.com, the georgia public commission, and the state of Georgia attorney General's comsumer complaints division, as well as my local senate representative...What may be small money for a company your size is big money to the people sprint is ripping off.....

Few problems with your story?

AUTHOR: Ceadda - (U.S.A.)

We'll start with the 60 day thing.
Return policy on contract phones for basically every carrier in the US is 30 days. There's no excuse for not knowing this as the contract, brochures, websites, and policy info sheets all warn you.  Not to mention the millions of "Try with no risk for 30 days" ads for various carriers plastered to billboards and storefronts around the country.

Secondly, the 69.99 unlimited plan explicitly states that is is unlimited for cellular to cellular only. All other calls are 450 anytime minutes then .45 a minute overage charge for each additional minute.

The "Simply Everything" plan for 99.99 is probably what you should have been on as it states unlimited anytime minutes. Anytime minutes are good for calls to and from anyone.
