Back in 1993, I opened a secured credit card account with !st National Bank of Marin. Subsequestly, I fell behine on payments and went through a debt management company to clean up the mess.
I have since bought a home and refinanced a couple of times and all of a sudden out of the blue, I am getting calls by a collection agency that I owe $1400 on an account that was paid off in 2000.
Of course, I have no record of the card being on any credit report for the last 13+ years otherwise I would not have been able to buy my home without it being paid.
I have gone to great lengths to protect my credit and make payments on time, etc.
Beware this could happen to you if you have had this card. Biggest ripoff and fraud I have ever heard of.
I have notified the collection agency that has called me that I am not paying it and sinmce they have no record of it on my report either, I am hopeful that this will get taken care of without any legal action.
