I have full coverage with my HMO, with a small copay. I paid the copay, and my insurance company was billed (Blue Shield) for radiology. I was assured by my insurance company that the bill was paid. I do not know if it were paid or not, but under the terms of my HMO coverage, I am responsible ONLY for the copay. St Jude Radiology just sent me to a collections agency for a bill that is not my responsibility.
This is obvioiusly an underhanded attempt to force me to become involved and pressure my insurance company to pay them, by holding my good credit rating ransom under the threat of report to the credit agencies. This seems to be a very underhanded way for a hospital to operate.
