My daughter was going to Korea after completing her last semester in College last Winter (2003) I purchasd a travel insurance policy for $670.00 covering her for the trip and providing a catastropic type health insurance for her while there.
The war with Iraq broke out in March and the trip was cancelled.
STA travel refused to refund me the money. Additionally, after numerous phone calls to the company and a letter in writing they didn't even have the decency to contact me, either in writing or by phone or e-mail.
This place caters to college students going abroad to teach, attend classes, travel etc. They have a big web site advertising all they offer to students.
Please, Please do not use this company!!!! You will not receive any money back if something beyond your control occurs.

(I am not speaking on befhalf of STA Travel, Only as a person who has read the insurance policy cover to cover)
It does clearly state in the insurance policy that Acts of War, whether Declared or Not, are not covered under the trip cancellation exclusions.
It is in bold and hard to miss if you actually bother to read the pamphlet
Personally i do agree with you that that should be something that is covered it does plainly state in the brochure that this is not covered, On a Side note The Insurance is not controlled in anyway shape or form by STA travel it is simply a BerkleyCare Product that is evailable at a discounted rate Exclusivly to STA Travel Customers
