I was contacted by Stanford Who's Who via my cell phone during a Doctor's office visit.  Naturally I was stressed at the time and did not use my better judgement.  They convinced me that being a member of their community would help me get a new job and provide an avenue for me to promote my business.  I was also convinced that all the web services would be included in my membership.

So a bit reluctantly I agreed to join, site unseen, which was a very poor decision on my part.  I was away from home at the time and was unable to access the website during the usual 72 hour period in which I could legally cancel.

Then the first opportunity I had to check out the community, I was dissatisfied with the fact that I could not access the Marketplace, did not see a huge following within the community, and it appeared that other's were also dissatisfied with the participation level in the community.  I immediately tried to cancel only to be told I could not cancel or receive a refund as they had provided my access and website.

Now, I've worked on completing my biography and profile and found out that you can only use certain web browsers to access the site.  I also found out you can not post product pictures and expect them to be immediately displayed, they have to go through an approval process that takes 24 - 48 hours.  I expressed to them my dissatisfaction again, as the majority of my product postings are only available at that price for 24 hours.  They really couldn't rectify this situation either.

So far they have charged me over $617 and now I'm being told that my site and profile will not be sent to the search engines unless I pay another $100 or more.  I was also told they were going to charge me $19.99 per month for web hosting, that I convinced them not to charge me.  I still feel, I was coerced into buying something that really will not benefit me in any way, and was not informed of the actual costs involved to participate.

I have not made one sale on my website and have been trying to promote it for over 6 months.  I have tried to cancel and receive a refund with no luck.  I'm trying to make the community work for me, with no success.  Please don't waste your hard earned money for the honor to be a member of the Stanford Who's Who, because no one really cares about the community and it is just another scam to get your money.
