My dear friend was recently ripped off by another scam this summer and he (the scam artist) is now in jail as I write this. So I told her the next time something sounded too good to be true, let me look it over, too.

Yesterday she gave me a letter from STAR CAPITAL SECURITIES, INC. from Chatham, Ontario. Also there was no return address, a flower stamp from Canada, as someone else stated but the check certainly looks legitimate. Included with the letter was a check for $4,875.00, a supposed partial payment of $125,000.00 winnings, of which she was to pay government taxes of $2,975.00 by MONEYGRAM or WESTERN UNION. Then she was to receive the final check of $120,125.00 by FedEx.

She also was supposedly 1 of 40 other winners in the "declared 2nd category winners" of "NORTH AMERICAN SHOPPERS SWEEPSTAKES held on March 5, 2008". Names included in this letter are MRS. CAROL ARMSTRONG, MRS. BRENDA HICKS, and North American Claims Affiliate. My first place to start was the internet where I found RIPOFF REPORT. Thank-you!!!

When I read other very similar reports I knew I should not even make that first call to this place. I learned here first this is another scam and I am also reporting it to the U.S.P.O. and the Dept. of Commerce. This is MAIL FRAUD, and also an INTERNATIONAL scam!
