Starcrest has violated Labor Laws; workers at starcrest have united into a unity of power. We the people at starcrest are tired of being treated as slaves working long hours or very short hours, we are tired of our women being sexually harassed by managers that cover up for one another. We at starcrest are asking the community of Perris to get involved with this we need your help;

T.M Calandra has violated multiple labor Violations sending the employees, union organizers, and union support threatening letters. He has threatened to close down the plant. Do it then T.M Calandra we are tired of your Management team that discriminates minorities we are calling you out in front of the world to see to see how you respond to this report. Why can Arnell Nauden piss on a wall and still be one of the plant managers?

T.M Calandra how could you even ask us why we want a union when in the warehouse in the summer its over 90 degrees inside. Why can we go past 4 hours without a break? Why do our Managers and Supervisors get on our backs to work harder when you only pay us minimum wage? Why do we sometimes have less then 40 hours? When the following week we have over 60 hours worth of work.

Do you not know how to manage your own company? You claim this company is the best that its built on good morals yet you treat us the workers like slaves. We are not slaves and Arnell Nauden your manager of true faith is violating multiple labor violations maybe you have paid off other union organizers but you cant pay us off. We will continue to fight against you till the day we get the respect that we need; no I dont mean donuts and coffee I mean at least $10.00 an hour with guaranteed 40 hours.

Get managers like Michael Banks to stop sexually harassing our women, Get Arnell Nauden to stop covering up sexual harassment claims against his buddy Michael Banks, Tell your management to stop violating federal labor laws or else we will contact NLRB to come investigate all of you and T.M Calandra you will be fined for lots and lots of money. We the people of starcrest have vowed to fight till we get ILWU involved in the company.

AUTHOR: Kevin - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, August 29, 2004

I did not know that there was osha inspectors at starcrest. I am glad that someone has reported them to OSHA cause the warehouse was a mess and who knows whats going on upstairs. So if anybody would like to join the fight against Starcrest or would like documentation on Starcrest then contact the following number. (951) 757-7424 and ask for Rudy, he is a union organizer and he would be glad to step up a meeting with you and anyother employees of this company. Starcret declared in court (when they were in the NLRB hearing) they declared in front of ex-employees and NLRB and Union affilates they declared that all starcrest employees are just people living off of welfare, people that come out of jails, and people that are drug addicts and alcoholics. This company thinks that becasue they pay people the minimum that they can harrass employees. If you are an employee stop being afraid step up to the plate and face this company in unison we can accomplish a better working atmosphere better working conditions respect and better pay. Employees fears of the company arent going to get us anywhere. This is your chANCE TO TAKE A STAND we live in america a country where we know we are free. Step up and show the company that this is not a 3rd world country that cutting our hours or overworking employees is somnething you do in a 3rd worl country not in america. STEP UP....The union cannot fight by itself..Step up people stop crawling on your knees stand up and believe that change is your hands.

Result of guilty verdict

AUTHOR: X Box - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, August 06, 2004

Kevin, Thank you for the update on the labor situation. As a current employee, I am glad to learn that the government is taking action against Starcrest. Is there a report issued by the NLRB that specifies all the violations committed by Starcrest? Is the ILWU going to organize us? In addition, the safety hazards are so bad that OSHA has had to send two inspections in the past two weeks.

The people who are pro-union keep talking about illegal activity on the part of the company.

AUTHOR: April - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, January 26, 2004

If there was merit to these claims then the Government would be all over Starcrest. I have seen illegal practices that are used by other companys and Starcrest does not follow suit.

I make it a practice to follow labor law and know my rights so that I don't get screwed by a company. Starcrest was never an employer that I had to worry about my rights. It is minimum wage but anyone that pays attention would know that going in. If you don't want to work there leave.

The last rebuttle talked about if Kevin really wanted to stay for some reason, what reason???? He hates his job, the company and managment. Not to mention he thinks the small perks he does receive a stupid, what is the reason to stay?

Unless he is just a trouble maker....for those of you who don't know you pay a union money to be your voice. Having a union does not mean you get your way, they are not all powerful, it means you get heard. If the company doesn't like what they hear you can strike, like the grocery stores and they you get even less than minimum wage. Does that help you support your family better?

We can't all be teachers!

AUTHOR: Tim - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, January 25, 2004

Lyn, I can see where you're coming from, but I completely disagree with you on several accounts. Let's compare the jobs of a contracted teacher and an uncontracted factory worker. Both work hard under difficult conditions, often for unreasonable durations. The similarity, I would say, ends there.

Kevin is expected to be happy with his 6$ flu shot. You mention that you don't even get this, but what you fail to mention is that you probably wouldn't have to pay anything for a flu shot because you have a decent medical insurance plan. I would venture to say that Kevin has no health insurance, if he does, he probably pays quite a bit for it.

You say that you too are underpaid, and I'm sure you are justified in that statement, but I'm sure you make substantially more than minimum wage. Kevin isn't even paid enough to live on, but I assume that you own a house, or at least can afford a decent apartment. We all feel that we are underpaid, but there is a significant difference between someonw who is so underpaid that they can't even afford the bare essentials of life, and someone who is only "underpaid" to the extent that they can't afford a nicer house, a trip to the Bahamas, or a boat.

Kevin and his coworkers are working hard to unionize their workplace so that they may be free from managerial activity that borders on illegality and delves right in to immorality. You probably had a strong union on your side the day you signed your contract, and thus have always had the benefit of an effective grievance process.

Kevin has no union on his side, and as such, no power to voice his concerns, no means by which he can raise his voice and know that he will be heard and not fired. What would you do in such a situation? I tell you what I'd do, I'd stand up for my rights as a human being any way possible. If that means posting my distaste on a high profile website, then so be it. Such is my right, such is Kevin's right, and I think it was a d**n good idea.

If you were so dissatisfied with your job, but for some reason or another wanted to keep it, and you had no decent means by which to raise your concerns, I think you'd be on here doing the same thing.

Sure, if Kevin hates his job so much he should probably find a different one. But, unless your sole source of economic data is presidential propaganda, I'm sure you are aware that this is easier said than done. The bottom line is that, as human beings, we shouldn't be expected to just put up with deplorable working conditions. So then, whether or not we find that Kevin's complaints are merited, to deny that he should present them is absurd.

Grass Is Not Always Greener On The Other Side

AUTHOR: Lyn - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, January 22, 2004

This is a response to Kevin's rambling and complaining about how terrible it is to work at Starcrest. First of all, I am a teacher that works far more hours and much harder than what I am paid. As a teacher educating students to become productive, intelligent citizens, I do not get doughnuts, coffee, fruit, $6 flu shots, Thanksgiving candy, Christmas Parties, Picnics, or gift certificates for doing my job. Secondly, had you paid more attention in school and gotten a proper education (hmmm college even), then maybe you wouldn't be stuck in a low paying job for those who don't have a college degree. If it is so terrible at Starcrest, why don't you put your energy into bettering yourself and move on. Instead of writing numerous reports on this site, you should stop your griping, get an education, and become a teacher. Then you can experience true hard work, long hours, and little thanks for low pay.

Nobody is "forcing" you to work there

AUTHOR: Dena - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, October 28, 2003

The last time I checked this is a free country AND employment is free-will which means that you have the right to leave an unsatifactory job at any time. If you are truly unhappy at Starcrest than I would suggest that you would be better served by leaving that job than you will be by engaging in a slander campaign against Starcrest.

If such a good company then why is the union going so strong?

AUTHOR: Kevin - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, October 27, 2003

I was the original author of this. The reason I feel so angry with the company is because I was told that If I worked hard that I would get a good raise; I was working at starcrest hard doing 4 lines two peoples jobs had good attendance and I always tried to help others then when it came to my 3 months review I was given a dime. A dime was worth all the work that I had done. Not only that Starcrest signed no competition contracts with Lowes in an attempt to scare employees from applying at Lowes. This company is no good it has all kinds of little problems that the public hasnt seen the first thing is money lets talk about how much money Our friend Calandra makes with starcrest um lets see oh yeah 312 million dollars, now lets take a look at the employees that work there um what is it oh yeah $12,000.Why if he makes so much money why are we the ones that made that money only get the smallest percentage. Now lets talk about our HMO plan why do we end up with the biggest part of the bill? Why Calandra? Hm..what about our 401k plan why are we the only ones that contribute why doesnt Calandra contribute not even a penny? Donuts, coffe, fruit, $6shots,Thanksgiving chocolate and 25 dollars gift cards doesnt make up for all the other areas that slave crest falls short on. Management doesnt respect us. Now with the union talk they violate my federal rights and yes harrassment, isolation, survellience, defamation of character and many others are against federal law not only do they know that its against federal law they continue doing it, what they looking for the charges to become criminal charges? There I a lot of issues that gloom inside slave crest if you it wasnt so there wouldnt be NLRB agents inside interrogating supervisors and putting injunctions upon the company. We the people will continue to fight against all you management. The union isnt going anywhere so what you got on the net and tried to make slave crest look good you really think we are gonna stop Calandra? Na I dont think so. LOL

Employee is right ..heard around the community college that this company was known as slavecrest or the jail house

AUTHOR: Juan - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, October 27, 2003

I also work there and they also told me that the job paid minimum wage, I also heard around the community college that this company was known as slavecrest or the jail house. I went to look for a job there before the union thing got big, it was bad i hurt my arm and the supervisor gave me a warning for imporperly lifting a box. I then was afraid to tell my supervisor if i got hurt. Mangement walked around like if they were gods and we were slaves. I know the job is min. wage but it doesnt mean this company has the right to treat us like slaves. That's nothing there's a manager that sexually harrassed my friend and he fired her, I saw when he did it and he still works there. This company is bad trust me half the people that are here writting good about the company are actually mangement, this company is bad and i hope the union does come cause the treat ment is real bad there. Also it is illegal for mangement to be survillencing employees while conducting union actvity as a matter of fact the NLRB is currently investigating Starcrest. Now the truth will always stand out i dont know the original author but i have seen the way mangement violates his rights which are not only protected by labor laws but also protected by the constitution and civil rights acts, So kevin there is a possiblity you could see in the future a great sum of money i have seen what they have done to you and i wish you the best in thatr struggle!

Meaningless accusations

AUTHOR: Joe - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, October 27, 2003

I too am fed up with the company I work for and I was hoping to find similar stories of mistreatment. What I found here instead is what sounds like a disgruntled employee grasping for reasons why the company is evil and wrong. The few specifics that are given are not actually illegal, the rest of the claims are vague and unspecific. This report should be removed from the website until a true "rip off" can be reported on this company.

False Hopes Are Your Own Doing

AUTHOR: Dawn - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, October 27, 2003

The problems that this individual has with Starcrest stems from his own self inflicted false hope. The HR department at Starcrest Products is very upfront that postions pay minimum and that hours are not garanteed as well as, that there is a large amount of overtime. It is NOT against the law to pay min. wage. If you don't like whats offered, why did you take th job?

I worked at Starcrest for almost five years in several deparments and I loved it. Like any job I had my moments that I didn't like my boss but that's life. No, Starcrest doses not pay well, but they do try to give other benfits to their employees. The picnic, the luncheon, a christmas gift, free donuts, fruit and coffee, reduced cost flu shots....the list goes on and on.

I truely believe that most of the management at Starcrest cares about it's employees. There may be managment that things that inappropriate but they get fired, just like evryone else. If you think that Starcrest sucks, leave. It can't be too bad if people stick around for 30+ years.

Starcrest does promote from within when there's someone qualified. I was promoted several times and can name a dozen others who were as well. I was never promoted to managment but I never to asked to be, I know others who have beeen.

I'll say it again, if you don't like the working conditions leave. Anythng else you were looking for was self inflicted false hope. If you had listened to HR at the front counter, in your first interview, in your second interview, during your job offer you know that you are getting exactly what you signed up for. Why should someone feel sorry for you when you knew all along.

Go get 'em Kev! But....

AUTHOR: Tim - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, October 03, 2003

Kevin... Nothing warms my heart more than hearing about employees taking on exploitative employers, but I have just a few words of advice for you.

First, don't make claims to the effect of civil rights violations unless you can point to specific incidents that our fellow readers can analyze for merit. You claim that federal rights are being violated, Now tell us how!

Second, you probably won't get much sympathy on alot of your points because we all either work or have worked crappy jobs. Federal law, and most state laws, do not require ANY breaks for adults, no matter how long they work... McDonalds makes billions a year but they still pay minimum wage... it is not unusual, as a result of varying demand, for hours to vary from week to week in many workplaces, and without a contract stating otherwise, no employer is required to ensure a 40 hour work week.

Lastly, and most importantly, don't THREATEN your employers with unionization, JUST DO IT! You don't jave a union yet, and as such you do not have the leverage to make threatening remarks without fear of termination. Look at what has already happened to the people who have been trying to start a union. Unionization can be done secretly. You contact a local, tell them you want to unionize your workforce in secret, and it will be carried out in confidentiality. Then one day your boss gets a rude awakening... his employees have unionized! Mind you this is a bit idealistic, and wind of unionization is bound to blow your employer's way, but it's a much better way to go about it than flaunting threats without real action.

Best of luck to you!

Production Manager Cedrick Cason, and supervisor Mike Gibson; began violating employees federal rights!

AUTHOR: Kevin - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, October 02, 2003

June 19, 2003 this company (STARCREST) found out that some workers have contacted the union. Production Manager Cedrick Cason, and supervisor Mike Gibson; began violating employees federal rights! Mike Gibson from then on decided that he would take the initiative to accuse union memebers of being union organizers. Mike Gibson constantly violating this employees federal rights. June 21 2003 Micheal Banks then dedcided to fire an employee because he believed that the employee had something to do with the union. He felt that the employee had no right to tell his co-workers that company because of the workers had a revenue of 208 million dollars. The workers had gotten mad that the company only payed them minimum and that it was hurting the community. Companies like this one is what makes us a minority of society. By T.M. Calandra constantly suppressing any idea of hope or a better way of life that makes us the workers turn our children into criminals, what makes our children see that life is all bull. Companies that pay less then the cost of living are supressing our community and community politicans should join the fight because guess what to when a political campign you need to have the voters vote you in guess who those voters are, thats right workers. Politicans what are you going to do to help put the pressure on Calandra to negotiate with the union?

if any readers want to put the pressure on calandra then wirte him a letter and mail it in straight to his company at
3660 Brennan Ave.
Perris, Ca 92571

or fax him at (909) 943-2045
