This is my second "run-in" with Startlogic on totally separate issues.

After moving my own domain to another hosting company because of the incredible number of problems I was having with "Stoplogic" as my husband has taken to calling them, I thought it wise to move my husband's corporate domain out of there too.

He'd been experiencing trouble off and on nearly as long as I had, but nothing like what happened over the last six months during their "upgraded service roll out." First they cut off his email for more than a week, reset his passwords without warning and moved his account to the "wrong server," rendering FTP, webmail, ticket submission ect. virtually impossible.

The standard 2 hour waits on the phone, conflicting responses via email and no response at all to "live chat" applied to him as well. All the while, his international customer base is frantically trying to get at the data on his site. He was literally losing thousands of dollars a day. The frustration level was getting really hairy around here to say the least.

To make an incredibly long and horrible story short (read some of the other accounts posted here, they're eerily similar!) we finally made the move to a WONDERFUL new host. We've been astonished again and again at the level of service and co-operation at the new host. Partially because of our rotten experiences with Startlogic, but also because these guys are GOOD! (www.bluehost.com)

We celebrated the departure of Startlogic from our lives and considered it good riddance to bad baggage. At least it was over, right?

Wrong! Lo and behold, my now inactive bank account that was used for the original purchase has just been charged for renewal. Which caused an overdraft. But hey, I only got four conflicting emails this time! One, incredibly stated, and I do quote;

"From: support@startlogic-inc.com [mailto:support@startlogic-inc.com]

You have GOT to be kidding me! They have just admitted that they have charged me 94.50 for an account they do not host and do not hold registry for! When I FINALLY (their hold times are notorious) got through to the billing department by phone, I was told that my "harassment" would not help matters. The matter had already been noted. I asked what note and what action would be taken. "Allen" told me that within 10 days or so, the charges would be reversed. I told him I wanted the NSF charge covered too. He said he could do nothing for me there.

I hung up. I will contact my bank and have them reverse the charges, using the above email as proof. I will contact the BBB as well, and of course, I will file in my favorite place for such things, Rip-off-Report!

Steer well clear of "StopLogic." They don't have any trouble taking your money, they just don't want to provide a service in return. It's the host that just won't quit hosting!

Update on Startlogic billing scam

AUTHOR: Webwriter - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, October 14, 2008

I had no trouble whatsoever getting my bank to reverse the charges after Startlogic shockingly (insert dripping sarcasm here) failed to provide their promised refund.

Two weeks later I got a NASTY email from Startlogic accusing me of fraud and demanding repayment. I had to laugh when I got to the bottom of the note. It seems that if I fail to abide by their criminal terms within 10 days, they'll suspend the account that they don't host in the first place.

I didn't even bother to write back and double dog dare them. I was laughing way too hard.
