Itzick Kohn aka: Greg or Isaac is a manager at State Certified Contractors in South Florida. He is ripping people off with every single job and his company changes names all the time. They are also known as IGK Design (bankrupt), Tri County contracting, Gold Leaf Contracting, and now State Certified Contractors. See other reports on this website about them. They do shabby, completely unprofessional work and leave the home a mess when they leave. Be very wary of any contractor who wants 80% up front before they even start the work and don't wire money if they ask for it. I originally got their name from Service Magic.Com who is a reputable referral service and they have since taken this company off their roster since so many complaints were filed against them. It is my understanding that Itzick Kohn has over 5 pending lawsuits against him at one Fort Lauderdale lawfirm alone! A small bathroom remodel project has taken over 7 months to complete with nothing but headaches, harrassment, delays, and unprofessional workers. they also did damage to the inside of my home and did not address it or acknowledge it. All of my building inspections failed, sometimes twice, for very basic plumbing, electrical, and drywall, which further delayed my project. The Building Dept at Hallandale Beach, Fl will no longer accept checks from State Certified Contractors because every check bounces. DO NOT make final payment to them until you have CLOSED permits. I have heard from someone who has a pending case against him that Itzick Kohn has a severe gambling problem and as soon as he gets your deposit he gambles it away and never pays his workers or sub contractors. This man needs to be stopped from victimizing any more people. His company changes names all the time, opening up under another guise. The General Contractor, Salvatore Mirabella is an absent contractor and is unable to be reached. Itzick is not even licensed. They claim they are members of the BBB, but they are not and I verified with the BBB who informed me there are 2 cases against this company already. The complete lack of communication throughout my project has been extremely frustrating along with disparaging emails and demands from a contractor who does the worst work I have ever seen. Beware! Do not hire them to be your contractors!
