September 13, 2005 our 04 Durango was stolen from my work. I came out to smoke to see that it was no longer where i left it. I called the police and filed a report. As soon as the claims office opened, I called to inform them that the vehical had been stolen and as soon as the police find it i will call back and let them know. I did the same to the bank as well.

About 12 hours later the police had called to inform us that our vehical had been found 2 cities away and that it was "Torched". It was found in a factory area in the woods and had burned until there was nothing left to burn. State Farm had us jump through so many hoops during their investigation, yet we did what they asked since we had nothing to hide.

They ended up denying our claim because they said we were so far in debt that we needed to do this to help get back on track with bills. They also came to this conclusion because 2 months before this happened we sold our house. What they dd not take into consideration was that My husband is active duty Navy and we had recieved orders to transfer to Michigan. The Navy then changed our orders and kept us in Virginia. We even had proof of this.

We still owed a little more then $28,000 on the durango so we found an attorney who was willing to take them on in court. It took 2 years to go through the process and we finally reached our trial date. The Jury found in favor of us which got us around $17,000. So this left us owing a little more then $11,000 left on the vehical.

In the end we still got screwed. Some immature moron steals our truck, burns it, and we still have to pay on that. So tell me State Farm what is the point of havig full coverage on a vehical when we have to pay outrageous attorney fees only to win about half of what is still owed?

Stay away from State Farm, and if you do decide to do business with them, I hope this never happens to you.

Credit Life?

AUTHOR: Patrick - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, March 02, 2008

Steven what does credit life have to do with the situation? Credit Life only pays off a vechicle if the person on the loan dies. What you are probly meaning is she should have purchased GAP Insuranace. GAP is a seperate policy that pays the difference between what is owed and what the value is.

Get credit life for your car. Did they mention that when they insured the car. What about the institution you financed the vehicle thru??? This could have saved you the hassle of paying the difference between the financed amount and the actual price of the vehicle. Some people think of this as being unnecessary but especially being in the military it is a good idea.

It doesn't matter what you owe.

Any insurance company will only pay the value of the vehicle at the time of lose. How you payed for the vehicle is your concern not the insurance company's. They only care about the worth.

Since the insurance company lost the case, didn't they pay your attorneys' fees?
