Paul Simon called my home while I was out and gave information to my roommate that was private. Stated to call Mike Wilson at 914-363-5004. I was also in collections and know that this is illegal.
You have to verify with whom you are speaking to and cannot give ANY information to a roommate or other individual other than a name & phone number to return the call.
This man also stated to her that if I did not return the phone call that I would be arrested on Monday. This is also illegal by what is called a "scare tactic." I know my rights and what is allowed. I can have this man arrested.
Not only will I not have to pay the small loan that I had borrowed but I will be receiving funds for the ongoing harassment and embarassment he has caused by giving out private information to my roommate.

And raise you 20 - they are just scammers. Good luck having this person arrested because they cannot be found!! Just tell them to take a long walk off a short pier into shark infested waters!

" This is also illegal by what is called a "scare tactic." I know my rights and what is allowed. I can have this man arrested. "
What you appear to be missing is that the person that called was not a collection agency, was not in the U.S. and does not care about the FDCPA. Why? Because he is a scammer. Specifically it is a scammer who has obtained your personal info (most likely when you filled out a loan application somewhere on the Internet) and is trying to frighten you into paying him for a loan that you didn't take out.
These particular scammers appear to be based in India or Pakistan and use untraceable Internet phones for communications. No one will be arresting them anytime soon. Your best bet, if he calls again, is to make him fully aware that you know it is a scam. They usually stop bothering most people when they figure out that they can't scare them out of some money.
