Stateway Auto Transport Hired to help resolve "system hack", told I would not be paid Wheeling Illinois

I was hired by Stateway Auto Transport in Dec 2014 as an independent contractor to help resolve the issues related to their "system hack" earlier in the year.   I worked in their Wheeling office researching and creating test runs on several alternate software packages in an effort to help them avoid continuing operational and customer service issues related to the breach in their IT security.

As is my normal procedure I bill my clients after each week of service is complete.  Terms are due upon receipt.  After 2 weeks of non-payment I followed up with the owner Mike to see if I could stop by the office and pick up my check.

After 3 weeks of non-payment and multiple texts and emails regarding payment status I was sent a brief TEXT message by Mike, the owner which simple stated  "Company going out of business.  No Money.  Sorry"

As a single mother and business owner,  the refusal? or inability to pay my  $1,100 invoice is unsettling and does not bode well for other businesses or customers contemplating doing business with this company.
