For the past year, the following events have caused me, and my family extreme concern and anxiety. This is a precise accounting that must never be allowed to befall others. Sadly, it appears commonplace at Steinberg Diagnostic Medical Imaging (SDMI) of Las Vegas, Nevada.

SDMI has grown to be a recognizable presence in Las Vegas. I am sure when David Steinberg, M.D., opened his doors it was a well-run organization. But as often occurs, businesses that become too large often lose sight of client needs. As a medical diagnostic facility with critical, timely, and potentially life-saving information, it is paramount not to lose sight of patient confidence.

Over a year ago my cardiologist saw something on my chest X-ray that prompted him to request a CAT scan. He and I discussed the possibilities of what this lung “nodule" might be. With a family history of cancer, I anxiously awaited the results.

Having been through 2 heart surgeries, I've become easily stressed at the least invasive procedure. Steinberg Imaging should have inquired what drugs I take well before I arrived for my scan. In fact, it wasn’t until I was on the CAT scan itself that the technician told me about the "contrast" injection I was about to receive. More surprising was she never asked what drugs I was taking though she could readily see my heart surgery scar. As a matter of diligence, Steinberg technicians should be advising patients of any invasive procedure and asking about drug utilization well before any actual test.

My CAT scan was conducted Thursday, March 26, 2015. The technician told me that my doctor would have the results by the next day. I waited until the end of the following day to call my cardiologist for the anxiously awaited outcome, but none arrived. Unhappy, I agonized over the weekend thinking positive thoughts.

First thing Monday, I called my doctor only to be told there was still no test result. I directly called Steinberg Imaging and insisted on the reason? After what felt an eternity, I was told that my scan had been "misplaced" and I was promised a phone call later that day, which never came.

Late on the fifth day, after calling 3-4 times, an unapologetic SDMI technician explained that someone “forgot to remove the image” from the computer and a radiologist would be reviewing it by the next day. I tried to grasp such bazaar justification, but now was so over-anxious having already waited for 5-days, I hung up and started to make appointments for my results. On the 7th day after the CAT scan, I was finally able to receive results from a pulmonologist, and on the 8th day, an oncologist.

If not for the inconclusive, but encouraging findings of my doctors I would never have allowed Steinberg Diagnostics to get away with their incredible explanation and inexcusable actions. Even the nickel and dime calls for $8.00 post insurance money (6 weeks later) couldn’t upset me, that is, until now.

The simple, indefensible, and non-arguable truth about SDMI is this. You could be placing your life in jeopardy when you use their services. Fifteen months after Steinberg Diagnostics lost my first images, another radiologist, and my oncologist requested a copy of my original report to compare to the second test. Two weeks after these requests were made I found SDMI ignored (or possibly lost it on the computer), thus jeopardizing the findings of my most recent CAT scan of July 5, 2016.

To make matters worse, the people at SDMI, Stacey Webb (CAO), Jerry Hartman (COO), Sanaa Makram (Compliance Officer), Cynthia Brill (Maryland Pkwy Office Manager), and the entire staff don't call, follow up or even bother to feign the appearance of concern. Whether my doctors have current or outdated data about my diagnosis is not important to Steinberg Diagnostics whatsoever.

Steinberg Imaging should no longer be able to reach into your pockets and steal your money by giving you potentially life-threatening services. The promises and commitments of the company hierarchy will end with a handful of short, contrived platitudes by the likes of Sanah Makram and Cynthia Brill. People such as Jerry Hartman and Stacey Webb won’t even bother to return your phone call.

I urge you not to patronize SDMI located throughout Las Vegas, NV. Always be cautious who you’re entrusting your care, always ask questions, and never allow a company like Steinberg Diagnostics to get away with treating you like they treated me.

I agree Steinberg does not care about the patients. I haad an issue with test results and could not get the radiologist to return my calls. Staff said I have to go through my doctor. There is an issue since the test contradicted a test done two months prior. I called the manager and left three messages before someone tracked her down. She refused to put me in touch with the physician. Having to make another appointment with my physician, then having him call Steinberg is a big waste of time since my issues could have been resolved with a few questions. By the way, my appointment was schedueld for 7:30am and I was there over two hours before I was able to get the testing procedure accomplished.
