Steve Brown/SB Floor Coverings Beware of this Contractor: Deposits Taken, Product and Services not Delivered Trenton Ontario

Just finished talking to Steve Brown's supplier and my order for hardwood flooring which was taken in January, 2008, has not been ordered, nor are they supplying him any more as he owes them oodles of money.

Athough our installation date is not until August, we started getting the run around just by trying to change our colour selection and having samples delivered to make an alternate choice. The problem was that the only correct information that he had recorded was our phone number. (I guess accurate information is not necessary when you don't plan on showing up again). We have tried calling him to confirm our dates in August to coincide with vacation time only to find numbers disconnected and full mailboxes. He has collected $2000.00 from us.

In addition, a friend of ours in Whitby had a big job to do including stairs and a $6000.00 deposit. His job was supposed to be completed in May, however, his house is still in shambles. Many of the stories reported here sound the same: Not following up due to sickness, deaths in the family, etc. etc. He also told the friend that he couldn't install hardwood on particle board and that he should get plywood for a cost of $3400.00. The friend thought it was outrageous and then got another contractor to do the plywood for $1200.00!!

This has to be stopped. I have contacted the local paper and we've also made a call to the Durham Police. Right now they have 4 complaints on file. We are encouraging anyone who has been under contract with this contractor to contact the local police IMMEDIATELY at 905-579-1520. There's power in numbers and this CANNOT continue!! CALL TO REPORT THIS NOW!!!
