Steve Cyrkin of THE AUTOGRAPH COLLECTORS MAGAZINE wrote a article about a forensic scientist and noted handwriting expert titled THE FORGERS BEST FRIEND. Hmmm! He wrote the article about a man in Virginia named Chris Morales.
Chris Morales' resumes reads as follows ; International Police Technical Advisor, U.S. Department of Justice, International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Program (ICITAP) I served as the Forensic Science Development Coordinator. I was responsible for creating and coordinating forensic training and development programs in various countries, including the establishment of state of the art police forensic laboratories throughout the western hemisphere. I also conducted hands-on training. This work was in support of U.S. foreign policy initiatives and foreign assistance programs. To date, I continue to do contract work in this field, on a contract basis.Special Agent, U.S. Secret Service I graduated from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center's Criminal Investigator class #512 and the U.S. Secret Service's Special Agent Training Course #101.Planned, developed, and equipped complete forensic laboratories in Latin America and Caribbean.Court qualified forensic science expert I received the majority of my forensic science training in the U.S. Secret Service's Forensic Services Division's Questioned Document Section. I worked in all areas of handwriting and counterfeiting.Faculty Advisor and Adjunct Faculty Member, Forensic Science Department, George Washington University (GWU) I served as an adjunct professor in both the graduate Forensic Science and Security Management programs. I also served a term as advisor for the security management graduate degree students.Dual Masters Degrees in Forensic Science and Security Management, GWU My Forensic Science graduate studies included concentration in questioned documents and all areas of physical evidence.Member, American Academy of Forensic Sciences, International Association for Identification New York Division, International Homicide Investigators Association Professional memberships have provided me with the opportunity to stay up to date with developments in the forensic science community.Fluent in written and spoken Spanish, knowledgeable in sign language.
steve cyrkins article starts off by stating that it is his most important article. One line in his article reads " I dont understand, the collector says. They came with authentication by Christopher Moraleshes a court-approved forensic document examiner and theres no one more respected than he is! "
OK so collectors buy things that were authenticated by Chris Morales then they go to another authentication company like PSA DNA and they are told that the item is not real based on?
PSA DNA has some good authenticators. Roger Epperson was once one of PSA DNA's top authenticators and today is considered be be one of the greatest authenticators in the history of authenticators.
Roger Epperson's resume reads as follows : Education
- Studied with many of the best in the business learning how to detect pen pressure .
Now Roger Epperson's resume is far more impressive than that of Chris Morales and there are less words on his resume and the words have fewer syllables, so if you have trouble reading then Roger Epperson has a more meaningful resume and therefore should be your choice for authenticator. His resume is real easy to read !
Chris Morales is suing Mr Cyrkin for writing the Article entitled "Christopher Morales: The Forgers Best Friend" . In my opinion Steve Cykin should be able to beat Chris Morales in court. The first thing Cyrkin needs to do is find out who Chris Morales best friend is, then he needs to prove that Chris Morales' best friend forged something. Maybe Morales' best friend is a black smith ? Or what if Chris Morales doesn't have a best friend ?

the bad stories about autographlive.com are true

Morales Drops Lawsuit

Based on a request from christopher morales all charges and claims were requested to be dropped.
The decree was issued in late may - case closed. For Roger Epperson it is a good thing as he is a fine authenticator. For Steve Cyrkin it's a good thing Epperson had a lawyer.

#2 Consumer Suggestion
Roger Epperson is basically a dealer with a little knowledge

Roger Epperson might be a nice guy, but he is a dealer with a little experience. His resume says he studied pen pressures what ever that means. It is true that an even pen pressure can indicate forgery but that is not always the case Ellen Corby had even pen pressure in her later years just because of her advanced age and her muscle and reflex being less effective so she wrote slowly and darkly with heavier pen pressure. Shirley Temple's childhood signature was slow and heavy at one point. There are other clues but I will not divulge .
Epperson is right at times and wrong at others. Seen a few of his errors. Honest errors but errors just the same.
Only seen one Morales certified autograph and it was the real deal. The ones on Autograph Magazine Live may or may not be fabricated. The Morales I saw was at an autograph show in Florida and it was a Disney signed check which had two other COAs , one from Phil Sears and one from Shawn Jackson. I know very little about any of the three. The check was $ 4500 which I thought was high.
I mailed an autograph to PSA and it took seven weeks for it to return but others told me that was typical.
A lot of mud is thrown on AUTOGRAPH MAGAZINE LIVE. Its a nasty site and very negative with no redeeming attributes in my humble opinion.
handwriting study is not only limited to autographs but court cases as well. Handwriting is handwriting regardless of a person being well known or unknown.
Some autographs are impossible because they are written in haste on the run which is referred to as scrawling which is often the case at book signings. Suze Orman scribbled in my book as did Obama and Romney . PSA would reject these in a heartbeat !
THE FORGER"S BEST FRIEND was a very dark article and not well thought out IMHO .

Credentials

what this article doesn't report is that Mr. M**** has also been placed on EBAY Banned list. A Mo**** COA, after due diligence was done by EBAY, determined that consistent and accurate opinions on authenticity were fleeting resulting in the removal of any Mr. M**** COAs from EBAY Why that is or what appeal routes exist can certainly be pursued if that is inaccurate.
there are many things that one can say about Mr. Cyrkin and Mr. Cyrkin's agenda on his website but this isn't one of them.
Mr. Epperson, whether you appreciate him or not may not have the resume credentials that Mr. M**** lists but does seemingly have a much better track record of accurately authenticating music items which Mr. Epperson specializes in.
Credentials on a "piece of paper" can often lead the unknowing into believing an individual is much more skilled and knowledgeable then they really are. Evidently, EBAY agreed and added Mr. M**** to their authentication banned from EBAY list.
