Steve Gurnee - HCR Bancorp Please do not work with HCR Bancorp or Steve Gurnee Salem, Connecticut

I worked with Steve Gurnee/HCR group based on referral from Cory Walker as well the Go Big Network. Cory actually helped me with following up with Steve and seems like Cory was taken by surprise with Steve. Steve seemed like a good guy but his issue is he has signed two closing packages and sent out several closing packages to people with funding options. The guy is phishing for investors. he may be good on the commercial realesate side but is missing basic knowledge of funding projects. Read through..

I paid Steve Gurnee about $750 and a huge due diligence package. After about 3 weeks on probably sitting on it. he sendt me a term sheet which we negotiated on for about 2 weeks. Then i sent him $2500 to close the on the convertible loan. My local lawyer did not like the closing package as it looked very shabby. I spoke to Steve and his attorney Gordon Videll and then changed my attorney to a CT attorney as I thought Steve Gurnee was a good guy and he had put too much effort into the proejct for $2500. We did our due diligence on Steve. He existed in CT and had a valid business license.

We waited for funds... they never came. Come to find out Mr. Gurnee can lie.. here is what he said about his investor:

a) His investor was cream of the crop

b) He was referred to him by a friend who had done deals with this investor

c) he had met with the investor and looked at his portfolio

All lies. I have been working with for almost 1.5 years and If he would have told me the truth .. I would have stopped and asked him some questions to validate the inevstors credibility. Come to find out this investor was a nigerian scam and Mr. Gurnee made me spend $40,000 on opinion letters and key man life insurance without doing any due diligence on this investor.

Steve then referred me to a guy called Rick T.. from TI funding. Another crook. Steve does not do the minimum due diligence and is not a very savvy businessman. I can understand not doing Due Diligence on your investor once but twice.

Please do not work with this guy. I am complaining about him to the BBB in CT as well as contacting the news office local to his area. he deserves to be out of business.

Do not contact this guy or work with him as he has no clue on any investors.  I wish there was some way I could put the word out via email to all potential people working with him to stop working with him as he is not a very good person and moved on without even an apology. He is a sorry human being!
