Steve Morris, Sportsman's Taxidermy Made us pay $300 for taxidermy work a 3rd grader could do. Birds had no feathers, wires sticking out, horrible! Belton MO

We had two pet toucans - very rare and expensive birds. One died of old age and the pathologist couldn't find out why the other one died. So we took them to Steve Morris Taxidermist in Belton, Mo., and he boasted he was the BEST bird taxidermist around!

This was in August 2015. I took extra tail feathers for the one who died of old age, as she kept falling down and broke her tail feathers. He never installed them. He had her looking so sad and morbid. There are wires sticking out - he couldn't even cut them. 

The other toucan he admitted "I don't know what happened to the feathers?". It looks as if he just threw him in the freezer unwrapped and piled dead animals on top, because there were no feathers hardly on the bird. Again wires sticking out, screws exposed, the colorful beak was all washed out as if it had been bleached. And there is a sticker from the hardware store on the piece of wood it's mounted on!

We waited two and a half years to get these birds back. He made us pay $300 to get them. We knew he would just trash them if we didn't get them back from him. We would love to get our money back but he refuses. We even had an attorney call him on the phone and he was rude to them and refused to budge.

This guy is rude and unprofessional! We sent him pictures of what how we wanted them to be mounted. He didn't even try to make them look like that; he didn't even combine the two into one mount as requested! 

He had a smart-aleck smirk on his face all the time we were there to pick the birds up. We were in disbelief and so shocked that we didn't know what to say or do. But we wanted our birds and didn't want them to be thrown in the trash. Although that is what the majority of people would do with them.
