We purchased a $24,000 fifth wheel trailer. Two days after delivery we sustained over $11,000 in damages and related expenses.

Trailer brakes were never inspected prior to sale. They were completely shot and they malfunctioned. We were told they were in great shape. The service department hooked the trailer up to the hitch in the back of the pickup and left off the most vital part...all the while proclaiming that they knew exacly what they were doing.

The 14,000 lb. fifth wheel careened into the back window of the pickup as we navigated a narrow mountain hwy. going down hill. Each time the brakes were applied the trailer slammed into the front of the hitch, (no brakes). The hitch was totally ruined, the truck cab was bent and the glass broken out.

Our lives were endangered. The lives of those who shared the narrow mountain highway with us on that day were also endangered. A 14,000 lb., out-of-control travel trailer is as dangerous a weapon as a gun in the wrong hands.

The dealership was informed of this event 30 minutes after it occured, when we phoned to ask for their help. Their response? "It's not our problem". We were left stranded in 4 ft. of snow for 6 days before we could find help.

The owner, Steve Shurbet hid from us, and would not speak to us until over a week into the ordeal. When finally he did speak with us we got the same response, "hey too bad, not my problem, Really, I'm a good guy".

The Hall of Shame for Steve Shurbet, Inc., and Holiday RV, Holiday RV South

It's a Sure-bet if you buy and RV from Shurbet you'll be ripped-off.

Any suits against Steve?

AUTHOR: Dan Jackson - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, January 19, 2011

I'm trying to find out if anyone has won a lawsuit against Steve for any of these listed problems. It seems that they are a shady company and that all of us banded together would have a good class-action lawsuit on our hands. If anybody is interested, please contact the law office of Chaney & Williams to voice your opinion and join the cause!
