Upon responding to this email, the email given is the one listed above. This individual makes no mention in the email as to what company he represents or that he is a hiring agent for.
I googled his email address to see if it was linked to other scams and was directed here.
my response to "STEVE"
Dear Steve, I'm a bit guarded when it comes to providing my personal information to third party websites. There are plenty of reasons not to, primarily the report that is prompted immediately when you enter any sub-category of individuals trying to obtain personal information for identity theft through the use of such redirected agencies. However, the reason why I'm responding to you directly is because there are several red flags that pop up in your response.
If you are a legitimate business you have failed to even provide me with the name and information of the company that you are contacting me from. You are asking me to go to a third party website, that has trusted logos of companies the average man/woman (myself) use and visit every day or week. The second red flag is the goggled RIPOFF reports that shows that while you may have been a scammer, you're sincerely not very intelligent about Public Relations. You are still using the same IP address that is linked to these notorious reports about you. Reports I might add are about an anonymous user in a courtroom (media) that he doesnt have the ability to develop a proper defense.
I'm a single mother, unemployed, living through a recession and I have to live defensively. While I understand that even the largest of companies will attract unwanted and undeserved attention, these complaints aren't about a company they are about the integrity of an individual (who retains his personal anonymity) whom is posting and soliciting individuals during a period in our country where the unemployment rates are over 10% nationally. I have to understand what type of person may continue to preserve his email-convenience or not.
As a businessman in control of a leadership role, I cannot simply accept that youre unknowing of the image the affiliation you have to your email is undergoing. If you are soliciting individuals you are reflecting your companys image, and without knowing you directly, I have to accept that you could be preying on individuals whom are so complacent they can't be bothered to read between the lines. I imagine this would allow a predator to sleep a bit better at night thinking that he may have taken something, but in taking he also taught the victim a lesson in being more defensive or cautious. I wish you the best of luck in trying to find whoever you are looking for.
I might suggest for the dignity of your company, you at least consider changing your email address. Even if you do so by creating a catchall that allows your emails to be redirected to your mobile account. But, I don't need to explain this to you; you work for a global IT company. I guess I just expect a bit more from a professional that represents a business that encourages individuals and businesses WORLDWIDE to come ONLINE confidently to not just barter and trade their goods, buy their needs and wants, but imagine an world that they can fulfill their dreams as well by owning a company that requires little comparable start up costs.
However, I might add in conclusion that the possibility you actually work for digitalriver is doubtful. One would think that as a professional of any importance in your company, the company would have already identified this issue, moreso would have ensured any individual speaking/hiring on behalf of their company would be doing so with an actual @digitalriver.com address and not from a free account that is subject to spam and phishing. Especially on a security level, free accounts are less secure for private communications that involve collecting private personal data from potential clients or employees.
