This gentlemen Steven Plouffe, responded to my Kijiji ad with respect to a cable modem, he got a deep discount base on the fact he was signing up with an Internet provide thus proving me a referal.

He decided to cancel, not letting me know, and thus could not use him as a referal.  He says I had ample time to submit the referal, that is not the point, I did not want someone to sign up then to cancel.  I believe he had all intentions of cancelling and had his cancellation in progress when he picked up the modem.

Once I txt'ed him more information about where he works, he decided to offer me the modem back, but I would have to pick it up.  Consdering meeting again may not be in my best interest as it can be dangerous, I offered him to pay the difference of $35.00.   I gave him more then enough time to pay me, and has decided to not pay.

We met we had a verbal agreement and he did not honour it, once I contacted him initially, he said that I had more then enough time to process referal, if he would have told me that he was planning to cancel I would not be writing this up, to his credit I did not give him a time limit to cancel, but again 1 month after is a bit rediculous., maybe 3, 4, 6 months can be understood, but not a month.

Be cautious when dealing with this individual in any sort of agreements as he does not honour his side, and does not respect the verbal contract.  By the way, this was a private Kijiji deal and in no way related to his business.

Good day

My Answer

AUTHOR: cndtoonie - ()

POSTED: Friday, October 17, 2014

Good Morning,

Yes I did cancel my internet service with Acanac, due to the fact they could not provide me service. I had been dealing with issues for 2 month before I bought the modem (which I told this gentleman). I bought the Thompson modem from this gentleman on Aug 22, 2014. I canceled my service on Sept 24, 2014. When I purchased the modem there was no verbal agreement that I had to stay with Acanac (didn't know he was my boss) until he decided to put in his referral. He had over a month to do so. My intension was not to cancel seeing as I was a customer of Acanac from May 2012 to Sept 24, 2014. Furthermore this gentleman proceeded to harass me for 3 days, I offered for him to come pick up modem and return my $50.00, in a public space and have someone not me meet him (this was to make him feel safe) I never threatened him at all, he refused.

Thank you,

Steven Plouffe
