Stoddard's Pets Dishonest about Contract for Placing Puppies on Consignment, and Threw away my Puppies' shot records and lied about it. Hot Springs Arkansas

I called and asked Mark Stoddard of Stoddard's Pets, about buying my litter of puppies, and he told me that he would buy or I could put them on consignment. He told me that by placing them on consignment, that I would owe him 25% of the sale price. I only had three of five left when I took them to him and he did not like that.

He would take care of puppies, feed them, and keep them clean while they were with him, with me remaining responsible for them. He did tell me that if anything went wrong, that I would be responsible for vet bill. He placed a small piece of paper (his contract-about the size of an index card) and told me as I was trying to read it.. that all I needed to do was sign it...he said that it just said he gets 25%. And,it was later when I was filing my paperwork at home that I noticed that it said also that I would owe that 25% whether the puppies were sold or not.

I called him that very next morning and questioned him...I reminded him that he tried to keep me from knowing about it when I was trying to read and sign...AND ALSO...ANY HONEST BUSINESS PERSON WOULD TELL YOU EVERYTHING UP FRONT. So, basically, he kept it from me until it was too late. He told me that even though the pups had not even been there 24 hours, I still would have to pay him his commission on unsold puppies before I could come and get them.

I did not know what to do, so I prayed about the situation for guidance on what I should do. I had a very strong feeling that I should go immediately and get the puppies, so that is what I did. He did not know I was coming. I went in with the comission of $300 and told him again that I thought it was unfair because I did not know and he tried to keep me from knowing until I signed.

I did not want to make a scene in the store, so I quietly marked each of my $20 bills with a counterfeit detector pen in front of him so that would not become an issue, because, by now, I did not trust him. He did not have my shot records that I brought to go home with each pup. I told him I wanted them. He started digging through the trash, and I asked him, "You didn't throw my shot records away, did you?" and he said no he didn't that they were on his desk. He came back from his desk and continued looking to the bottom of the trash and pulled them from the bottom of the trash. So, once again, he lied to me.

The food I left for my pups was placed under counter and never fed to pups and, also, the pups had been there barely a day, and they stunk of urine and feces. I brought them home and fed them and bathed them right away. So, I just could not let this go...I feel he did not take care of pups at all while they were there and he was very unfair and dishonest, and I will never go to his store again.
