Stone Throw Farm is horse hell! The contract outlines wonderful care, daily turnout, grain and hay 3 times a day. The owner, Joe DeCenzo seems to have this whole service provider business backwards. He does what he wants to who he wants and you pay him to mistreat you and your horse. Horses are never turned out. Horses stand in a foul smelling barn that reeks of nothing but horse urine for 7-8 mons out of the year. He actually padlocks the gates so you cannot take your horse into a paddock to even hand graze.
Very cheap low end grain is given 2 times a day. A small flake of hay is given twice a day even though the contract states 3 times. That is it the case. If you provide a supplement that is supposed to be given it is either thrown away or just not given to the horse.
The arena is not big enough for as many horses that are boarded there (33) so if several people are riding then too bad. A so called "trainer" moved several horses in and she rules the place. Lessons come first for people who don't even own horses!
The stall cleaner is a miserable immature idiot who does half of his job and not even very well. Horses are punched, tied down and mistreated. And these are boarders horses. Horses have died there, horses have lost tons of weight and when you question the owner he puts the blame back on you although the horses are under is care. Do not board at Stones Throw Farm if you care about your horse. This guy is a home builder also, and does shotty work at that too.

I forgot to add that if my horse had not been given his suplements, he would be lame. He is an older show horse that has normal wear and tear on his joints. He would also have a thick, cresty neck if he was not given his supplements. I assure you he does not. He is getting everything I provide to them to give to him every day.
The other thing I forgot, is that the horse that died, had cancer. Joe doesn't cause cancer. Regarless of this rediculous post, Joe manages to keep the barn full, and the horses and owners (ones with realisitc expectations) happy.

I have been a client of Stone's Throw Farm for a year now, and fine absolutely none of these remarks to be true. Yes, the owner is a builder, which makes his barn top quality.. not low quality. Shoddy builders do not stay in business, and his business is thriving.
Bullet Points related to the complaint:
-The farm smells like horses. It is one of the most immaculate facilities I have ever been in, and I have been riding horses for 18 years. They vacuum the aisle. What facility do you know that does this?
-My horse is turned out every week day.
-Yes, he padlocks the gates. He does that so our horses have grass to eat when they go outside, so they don't stand around in the mud. If this is not done, people will let there horses out there and let them run around to tear up the fields. I appreciate that he does this.
-My horse gets three supplements. Joe does not charge extra and he gives the medications/supplements to my horse every day. This is an outrageous and erroneous lie.
-Feed: Haley/Kelsey, if you had a problem with the grain, you should have spoken to someone about it. Joe is perfectly willing to buy you what you think you need.
-The arena is huge. My friends and I ride in there with at least 6 people with no problem. Why would 33 people be out there at the same time? There is an outdoor arena and a round pen for working also if this is a problem during the warmer months.
-The stall cleaner? Really? That is your attack? Firstly, there is more than one person that cleans stalls, and secondly, he does a great job. He is the most hardworking, careful guy who always has a horses best interest in mind. With that said, if a horse is being a bully or putting someone in danger, yes, anyone should put them in their place and not let the horse bite them. If that means hitting them away from you, you need to do it.
-The 'new trainer that rules the barn' is a goddess and she put up with this person who we all know is complaining, very maturely.
Board at Stone's Throw Farm if you DO care about your horse and you want them in a high quality facility. I would never take mine anywhere else in town. This post has been written by someone who was a misfit at the farm and deserved to get thrown out.
