In a marketing seminar we expected to purchase a marketing product as a whole for a fixed price, told we could not review materials before purchase due to vulnerability of "marketing secrets" provided in the package. Product we showed interest in was a set of 3 sites of "website realestate" and a LOT of tools, pressured to do six, and merchant account. We asked about extra charges, extra unexpected expenses, if it was ALL INCLUSIVE for all aspects of support (including trainer) they said yes.
After purchase and reviewing secrets turns out the secrets were all kinds of additional services (that you need to get the job done!!) at a cost not disclosed. Told me "all sales final" despite the unethical and dishonest practices of representatives - and $5200 later, we have nothing but months of back and forth correspondence in an effort to get $$$$ back!!
Recent recommendations of freinds was to call the FBI & local police fraud reports. I have filed with BBB & consulted a lawyer. Also contested with Credit Card, but their hands were tied due to not being able to uphold the laws on the 3 day right to challenge a sale. Research on web for Utah laws on consumer rights indicate they are in the WRONG!!! EMAIL ME evelynh@attglobal.net if you too want to know what else we can do!! There is NO WAY that this can be allowed in this country. I pride myself on my honesty - they do not demonstrate the integrity of a business that I would expect!! They are scandalous and we SHOULD get our money back!
They even had the audacity to respond to the BBB that the issue had been favorably resolved and the BBB no longer needed to be involved!! I wrote my BBB rep and told her that was a lie!

Over the last few months I have been hounding any legal office that is expected to protect consumers. Through this site a few others have seen my report and emailed me, and we share info about our progress. evelynh@attglobal.net So far, I have had little success EXCEPT that Kent Nelson, Dept Of Consumer Protection in UTAH, is making some effort to work on SOL!! He needs as much fire behind him as possible as WELL as your local state offices of Consumer Protection. INSIST to know if others have made complaint and how they are handling it. I found that in FLORIDA they did not register (must register if selling anything over $500 and not a FL business!!) to be here selling their "products" Their time here was ILLEGAL!! The state WILL fine them, but can not get my $$ back, regardless, I will recontact my Credit Card with that info as well- they were not registered to sell!!

On April 18, 2003, the Securities Division issued Summary Order to Cease and Desist against Respondents, Imergent Inc., StoresOnline, Inc., John J. Poelman, Donald Danks, and Charles Andrews. Imergent and StoresOnline are in the business of selling Internet merchant packages, which allow investors to begin a business and make money by acquiring a presence on the Internet and by marketing their products through the Internet. The Division alleges that Respondents violated the Business Opportunity Fraud Act's registration and anti-fraud provision. Allegations include failure to register and failure to provide the required disclosures. Respondents have the right to respond to these allegations in an administrative hearing.
