I rented a home from Strano from Dec 8, 2014 until Sep 30, 2018.  If you want a Property Manager who will give little to no response to calls and emails, Strano is the one for you.  If you want someone who will not follow repairs through to completeness, again, Strano is the one for you.

They allowed a maintenance problem to grow to a structural issue by ignoring my repair requests.  Finally, if you want to be ripped off regarding your Security Deposit, Strano is definitely the one for you.  I rented the same home from them for nearly 4 years and I have little to nothing good to say about them.  They made it seem like I left the home totally trashed and in very poor condition.

When in fact the owner was present at the move out walk through and said nothing but good things to me about how the house looked.  Have made a BBB complaint and I think small claims is next...  If you can find someone else to rent through, I highly recommend it!!  My complaint with Strano begins with their response not only to calls and email, but completeness of repairs.

One example involved a structural issue with a back door.  It leaked water into the house when it rained and that was largely ignored by Strano so that mold and mildew began to grow inside the house in the dining room so much that the entire floor, door, frame, and baseboards needed to eventually be replaced.

Another issue was some of the kitchen cabinets were coming apart from each other and off the wall.  They had several people come in to repair but held me financially responsible for a portion of the cost.  When I moved out is where I feel Strano's behavior was at its worst.

Out of my $1400 security deposit, only $39.32 was returned to me.  Along with the check was a vague breakdown of charges:  “complete cleaning” $400, sewer $85.68, and damage fee $875.  There was no description of what needed to be cleaned, nor was I given an opportunity to correct any deficiency as the move out checklist stated I was entitled to.

It also did not describe what the alleged damage was.  A portion of the sewer charge was for dates after my lease had already expired and I was moved out.  All I received as the former tenant was the check already minus charges.  I followed the move out checklist Strano provided me and additionally hired and paid someone $200 to clean.

I submitted that receipt to them.  It seems excessive that an additional $400 needed to be spent to clean the property after I paid $200.  I followed up multiple times and requested information and justification from Strano regarding the withholding of my security deposit.  Any attempts I made by phone and email to contact them were mostly ignored.

When I did finally get a response nearly 60 days later, they submitted to me 2 "closed" work orders; for cleaning and repair, that showed a total cost of $0 due by Strano.  Additionally, they included charges for services and items not on the move out checklist and in my view that were not my responsibility.

Additionally I feel while a tenant of theirs they did a very poor job handling maintenance and repairs in a timely and complete manner.  They attempted to either charge me for the over time billed or for amounts just under the lease requirements for tenant repair.  Many were the structural and building issues that I feel were either the owner or their warranty should have been responsible for.
