Strax Rejuvenation Boca Raton Florida tragic results, no beforehand info given, Internet

At age 60, In August of 2009 after a dramatic weight loss my breasts had ptsosis, severe drooping. I went to Strax in Boca Raton.  Dr. Kevin Shaw was assigned to me. He recommended a breast lift with augmentation.  I was not told that there are 2 types of placement: subglandular (over the muscle) or submuscular (under the chest wall.) I was given subglandular.  I was not told that subgladular can increase risk of capsular contracture, or that the best way for any detection of breast cancer is not a mammogram, but an MRI which insurance companies do not cover.

 I was told to stop smoking 2 weeks before surgery which I did, because if not, my nipples could turn black and fall off. Since my left breast had always been bigger than the right, I asked for a bit more ccs in the right. (I'd always been a C cup, and wanted C cup implants.)  Not only did my left nipple turn black, but I had severe & painful contracture on the left breast which the doctor tried 3 x to release with manual pressure to "pop" the contracture (a procedure not recommended I learned later.)  My left breast ended up lopsided with a deep dented scar underneath, and after many treatments to save the nipple, it remained barely visible. It also ended up SMALLER than the right breast which had been slightly augmented. Last year, still disappointed in the visual effect of the left breast, I opted for a floral tattoo around the nipple to "draw the eye away" from the defect. The only good thing I can say is that Dr. Shaw was compassionate and worked very hard to use treatments to save the nipple. Strangely, he "retired" shortly after my visits were completed.
