Student Assistance Foundation Scam Screwed Me Deceptive Ruined My Credit Billing Collection Credit ripoff Helena Montana

In January of 2002 if filed an application for a deferment with the SAF due to financial hardship. The deferment was granted. Given my financial situation, if was unable to make payments on my loan during the application process, hence my need to file for a deferment.

I contact the office to explain my situation. The customer service representative informed me that payment was not necessary and that the application would be approved within a few weeks. I was never sent any notice that my payments were late. I take pride in paying my debts on time, every time.

I recently discovered that this was being reported to the credit bureaus as a (60) day late payment back in February of 2002. I contacted the SAF. They apologized and acknowledged their mistake, however refused to correct the errors in reporting to the major credit bureaus, namely Experian.

I ask for proof of the alleged late notices, they refuse to provide them. I am reporting this to the BBB as a last ditch effort to allow the SAF to correct their error before hiring legal council.

I have not missed a single payment in 5 years. I have impecalbe credit with the exception of the items reported by the SAF. I was given verbal conformation that payment was not necessary. I would have borrowed the money from family in order to protect my credit and or good name if I would have been informed otherwise.
