I have witnessed Student of Fortune and the many unethical things that go on there. It seems everyday someone is posting about a tutor stealing another's work then reselling it. This has been happening since I have been there of one year and a half. Some tutors, all you have to do is look at their feedbcak to know they are up to no good. Take for instance a well known tutor with the profile name of 'Javstudent'.
This tutor has bought materials from just about every legit tutor on the site and has posted the work to profit from. Just as many tutors have reported Javstudent and the profile is still profiting from stolen work. This particular tutor has had the stolen work posted to thier profile since early last year, has profited from it, as is the site by allowing this to continue. In my opinion the site should be held accountable for lost profits to many tutors from the very first legit complaint since they have done nothing to help the situation.
This site is clearly not being used for the original intended purpose either. Not only are many tutors stealing work for profit but much of the work done on Student of Fortune is completed by the tutor and for the student. I think the intended purpose of this site was for students to receive help in understanding the work not to have it completed by another.
It seems this Student of Fortune site has no guidance from the 'Founder' Sean nor does the current site administration seem to care about anything but the bottom line buck they are making from students and stolen materials. Sure seems like many aspects of this site could be changed to benefit the good tutors and students alike. The problems here are so obvious but there does not seem to be anyone (administration, Founder, etc) that gives one d**n!
Questions to be asked:
1. Why would the site allow users to buy without being registered and confirmed?
2. What good are all those policies Student of Fortune have if they do not adhere to them?
3. Why does the site allow fradulent users and profiles to remain when proven guilty of selling Copyright material?
4. How does this site 'justify' selling said materials in number 3 above?
5. Should tutors be compensated because Student of Fortune was negligent in acting upon the many complaints filed?

Javstudent Removed from Student of Fortune
AUTHOR: TheRealArkayn - (United States of America)
SUBMITTED: Sunday, February 28, 2010
Indeed, Student of Fortune should consider 24-hour policing of their site and an increase in manpower to handle the situations like the javstudent issue. I belong to an organized group of tutors on the site, and I am posting here using the name of the person who started the organization. I can confirm with 100% certainty that the javstudent profile has been permanently locked by the site's administration and every one of "his" posts have been removed from the site.
In addition, the organization of tutors is dedicated to reporting instances of copyright infringement to the site's administration. Several dozen accounts have had their posts removed from the site and have been locked to prevent access.
Going back to the 24-hour policing of the site, a rotation of 3 or 4 honest people could monitor the site's submissions, both the questions and tutorials that are posted. The site operates on an honor system, but the fact of the matter is that unscrupulous people do use the site and will sell anything from original essays to another tutor's work to a copy-paste from another site (all three highly unethical and illegal).
