I visited the Subway eatery 06/17/2006 around 12:45pm. I ordered the Friday special for $2.49 (tuna sandwich). I also wanted a Roast Beef Sandwich.
When the worker began building the roast beef sandwich she placed 3 thin slices of meat. I decided against that sandwich but kept the tuna sandwich. She scraped the meat off the sandwich and placed the bread back in the bread oven. (I thought that was not proper) but didn't say anything.
I was talking to the guy next in line and I said that making a roast beef sandwich with hardly any meat in it is "just un-American". The owner interjected and stated, "Your complaint is stupid. You are the only one that complain".
I calmly stated that the guy who was next in line received more meat than I did. The owner stated because it was a ham sandwich she was making. I asked her then why was I paying more for a roast beef sandwich? I calmly stated I just wanted the tuna.
The owner serviced the guy with the ham at the register (made a sandwich then handled cash) and I then ordered an Ice cream cone from the other worker for my son. The worker passed the cone to the owner who did not wash her hands (again) and touched on the ice cream cone.
At that point I complained that was not clean. The owner touched my ice cream without washing her hands after accepting money from the sweaty construction worker guy I was talking to earlier.
The policy they have displayed in the restaurant is after handling money they will wash her hands. She remarked snidely, "I am not touching your ice cream and it is not my fault you cannot afford anything here. You are so cheap".
This so infuriated me especially after I had already paid for my Tuna in cash and just handed her money for the ice cream. She then stated that I was cheap and that I should "Go back to where I came from."
I stated I was born in America and being African American took great offense to her comments. I asked if she was American and she did not reply.
I asked her to refund my money for the Tuna and the Ice Cream. I would not partake in her establishment; she threw the refunded money on the counter. A quarter fell to the floor and under the drink refrigerator. I informed her about it. She told me to get on the floor and get the quarter myself. I said I would not and demanded all of my money. I didn't realize until later she had given me a Canadian quarter!
She then shouted get out, get out, get out! I said gladly I will never come back to this place again and furthermore I will be complaining against this establishment.

i would like to start by saying i worked at a the subway on hillcrest for 1 day it was crazy only 3 olives if we run out sooner i know you put more then that, if you notice the mayo is put on the meat, so the day and only day i worked there a man comes in orders a sandwich with no mayo well the owner who is showing how to do things puts mayo on it and the man says i didnt want mayo so she pulls the meat off and sets it aside once the left she then took the meat and washed it off in the sink and put it back to be served on the next sandwich....

I was a Subway manager for 13 years. 3 peices of roastbeef on a six-inch sub is the standard formula. The meat formula is calculated by weight, that is why the ham gets 4 because is weighs less. Roastbeef is over 3 dollars a pound mare than ham, that is why it cost more. I you go to Quizno"s you will see why they use more meat as a sub that would cost 6 at Subway cost's about 10 there It as simple as you get what you pay for. Also, Subway is a proponet of the fit and active lifestyle, for the sandwhiches to live up to the nutritional claims they can"t be piled with meat. Americans are meat-greedy that is why we are so obese, with high blood pressure, diabetes, heart desiase, etc. Extra meat on subs can be purchased. The food handeling procedures this customer described is totally unnacceptable and the heealth dept. should be notified. the comment made about the person being and Africian-American should have never,ever been made and I hope that person was at the very least disciplined. America doesn't need any more of that racest attitude than we need any more cholorestol.
