Summer Bay REsort Deseert Club, LLc Vacation Club Rip-off Clermont, Florida

We are owners with the resort and recently were contacted to come to a presentaion to get our new ID Cards and hear about teh new programs coming to Summer Bay Resorts under the Summer Bay Desert Club.

When we arrived, we were shown the Desert Club Program and told of the benifits of the program.  We were told that if we joined the program, we would receive memberships in RCI, II, Disney and a cruise program for a yearly fee that would replace all the individaul fees.  They presenter, it truned out was from a marketing group hired by the resort, had books form all the programs on teh table and went down the list of properties crossing off each ones fee and continually drawing our attention to the one fee of $239.00 for the year for all of them.

We agreed to join.  However, upon getting home and reading teh contract, we discovered that all we really got was the Desert Club membership and the RCI one.  The ohters were for "excess" inventories.  So we sent the contracts back and cancelled.  We contacted customer service and were told that we also needed to send the welcome kit back to avoid the processing fee.  So we did this under seperate cover.

We eventually received our money back, not within the 15 business days as promised, less a $75.00 fee.  When we inquired on this, we were told that this was the charge for processing as stated in one of the paragraphs.  We were also told, by Carla in contact disputes, that the contract had instructed us to return teh welcome kit.  Still can't find that one, though.  She stated we could send a letter to teh company disputing the charge and she would see if she could get this waved.

Bottom line is that this is a vacation club program that Summer Bay has added to its program.  If you already have  the Summer Bay Vacations Club, don't bother with this one as it is the same program, just under a different name and with less perks.  If you want to spend a couple of grand for a program that gives you access to excess inventory, go ahead.  But if you alread are in RCI, why would you?  As they say, let the buyer beware!
