My husband and I were having dinner a a local diner in Holland Ohio, when a younger man approached my husband with his sales pitch.
He said he had an extra home theater system valued at over 4000$ that basically just fell on his lap. He wanted to get rid of it. He made it a point that we had a large family and could really use a good deal on this out of this world product. After pressuring my husband to just look at it, he asked what we could afford. When he replied a $100, he asked if we had 500. My husband said no. Basically, wheeling n dealing in this parking lot, the price soon became 300. He acted like this was an unbeatable price and we were getting a steal.
When we later got home, my husband, eager to put together his new toy that was a fantastic bargain got to work....and so did I, Me and my google. The white van scam. Everything, the whole song and dance too the T!! I called several local police stations to warn them about this scandalling predator. I did get the license pl # and they pulled up it was a rented vehicle. Of course. Just like wikapdia had informed it's readers. A white ford explorer. Come to find out this scam had been occuring in the area all summer long. NOt a lot the police can do they said.
Well the speakers are hooked up as we speak I am listening to this so called 4000$system that sounds like a pile of junk. I got more system in my am/fm alarm radio!
We were bamboozled in these hard times. Working 3 jobs between us to make ends barely meet. We were out shopping for our oldest child's 6th birthday party. He knew that. He looked at my childrens beautifuls faces and still took our money knowing we were getting nothing but particle board and some generic wires.

How is this a rip off?

You chose to pay $300 for the stereo. No one forced you to do so. If you knowingly could not afford to feed your struggling family if you bought the stereo, then you should not have purchased it. Your fault.
