Sun Country Airlines ripping off consumers

I bought a ticket through Sun Country Airlines about a month in advance for my daughter, so she could see her brother and sister for Christmas. I got a call from Sun Country about a week later stating that they were no longer flying the route from Phoenix to Minneapolis, and offered me a flight with ATA.

I got all the info for the ATA flight and never heard any more about it. The night before the flight, I called ATA and confirmed the flight and they said everything was OK. I got up at 2:30 am the next morning to get to the airport on time and was told at the ATA ticket counter that Sun Country had reneged on their offer and my daughter wouldn't be able to board the flight.

The ATA representative told me that Sun Country had arranged the flight with FunJet vacations, and to call them. I called them and they claimed to be "caught in the middle" between ATA and Sun Country, and that Sun Country didn't hold their end of the bargain. It wasn't just us, there were a lot of people in line that got turned away.

I sent a letter to Sun Country requesting a refund, but it's not just the money, it's having to see my daughter cry all the way home from the airport because her Christmas was ruined that I will never forget. I'm not afraid to fly, but as a consumer I am afraid to buy a plane ticket thinking I will probably get ripped off. I have never heard of an airline doing this before.

Their web site still states that they will arrange for flight with other carriers. I think people need to know, especially if they have travel plans through Sun Country. I tried contacting several Phoenix news stations, but they aren't taking any consumer fraud complaints until after the holidays.
