Suncoast Energys Airport Fuel Enterprises Inc., Price Gouging, Internet

03/07/2010 The average price of gas in Central FL is $2.78/gallon. I was returning a rental car at the Orlando International Airport and rather than paying the rental car $7.99/gallon refuel charge I stopped at the first gas station I found, Suncoast Energys. The price at the pump was difficult to read, I found out after pumping that it was $4.79/gallon.

There was no sign at the street advertising the prices, they claim street signage is not permitted. Their response to the Florida Better Business Bureau's investigation of customer complaints of higher than normal prices was that the higher prices charged are needed to absorb some of the higher costs of building in the location and meeting higher stringent standards of Lee Vista Center.  The owner of the land on record, Leevista Inc., Richard and Kathleen Lee, are property developers.

Rather than trying to aim for customer satisfaction they say the consumer can make a decision prior to purchase and leave it at that. The Florida BBB won't do anything further because they say this business meets BBB accreditation standards. How low are these standards anyway?

If their claims are true and they are just passing along the cost of running a business onto the customer, should we focus our attention also on the owner of the property, Leevista Inc., Richard and Kathleen Lee et al.? They are partners on Lee Vista Center, a 1890 acre development project. This is just another case of lining the big corporations' pockets.
